Just curious... What does it cost to lease a field?

Any ideas?

It varies greatly...

it can cost thousands per year or it can be free. Where you are makes a huge difference.

Play for pay

We fly at an 80 acre private airport paying $2500 per year rent for about 10 acres, 3 miles from the nearest town and 1 mile back from the road.

We are 55 members and pay $75 per yr dues.

our club pays the town for use of 40 acer's they keep mowed.

cost per year....$1.00,value to town and club members...priceless!!!!

i just hope we can avoid the new solar panels that are covering 14 acer's this summer.:( we have to change the direction of the runway and fly a new pattern. i absolutly love my clubs site and hate change,we'll see what happens.

Our club rents 6 acres for our runway, parking etc from a farmer and fly over his crops. The property just changed hands and the new owner doubled our rent from $1250 to $2500 a year. We have a 150 x 900ft runway which seems huge (we've had cubs and ultralights land) but when the corn is up 10-12ft it becomes much shorter.:)

We fly on county property located in a flood zone. (We've never had a flood in 30 years). Adjacent to our field is the counties compost recycling area.

So, our "payment" to the county for use of our five acre field consists of providing a bit of off hour security to the compost area. Add to that, we provide volunteers to watch people dropping off their grass clippings, tree clippings, branches and the like. That comes to a mandatory 4 hours per person per year in our club. If you assume $10 per hour for the volunteer time, that comes to somewhere around four grand.

It's been working very well.
