New guy's confusion
 
Hello all, new here. I bought an aircraft that came with a fairly nondescript battery. No labels no information accompanying the kit. I emailed the vendor to get some information on the charging specs and their response is a bit confusing.

Firstly, I bought the WingSurfer from Nitroplanes, and the battery is a 3S 11.1 volt 1300mAh battery.
My charger is a Tenergy TB6B

The response from their support about battery specifications were ".....and with a minimum C rating of 20C".

Minimum? That would mean I need to charge the battery at 26 amps?!?!?!?! I dont think I am understanding what they are saying. Basically I need to figure out the specs to set my charger to so I can charge up the battery.

I hope that is clear and any and all input is appreciated. Thank you.

I am not an expert but I charge my 1300 mah batt at 1.3 amps, 100 at 1 A, and 500 at 0.5 A. That's a 1 C charge rate, considered safe for lipos. The 20C rating is max discharge. The 20C seems kind of light to me, mine are all 30C or 35C.

I forgot what brand my charger is but I pick cell count (7.4, 11.1, etc etc) and can dial in charge rate at tenths of an amp, then press go and wait = about an hour to recharge at the 1 C rate.

If you mean for a balanced charge then it is the same as he said above.

The "C" rating has to do with the discharge rate for that battery.

He's right....1300 mAh charge at 1.3 amps Move the decimal 3 places.

And then there's always "storage" discharge/charge. Balances the cells and adjusts lipo cell voltage to "storage" mode which for a lipo is NOT full charged or dead flat. Not sure what the rate is there, I dial in the numbers like a charge and the charger does the rest - it's a smart little charger.

Same rate as any charge, but it charges to around 50% capacity, around 3.8 to 3.85 volts.

LiPos left sitting on the shelf do better, over time, if they're sitting there charged at 'storage' level, rather than charged all the way up, or discharged all the way down.
