Apprentice Motor Replacement

Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement motor for the Apprentice. It is apparently a size 15, 840 Kv. The mounting holes on the Apprentice motor mount are @ 18mm apart, 25mm diagonally. Thanks. Gary

If you want to stick with eFite then the Power 15 950Kv I understand to be a drop in replacement but will give more power, so an upgrade to the ESC would be needed.

Or you could use a Turnigy G15 950Kv which is basically a straight copy of the Power 15 but a lot cheaper: http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...dProduct=33305

Suitable ESC: http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...dProduct=48056

Done it twice. First let me say make an ESC upgrade to at least 40 amps with a 5 amp BEC. HH will not admit a problem with the stock controller but it is known to Brown Out during flight, and when it happens you will crash. The gyros in the SAFE RX use a bit of power.

OK there are two motors I would recommend both from Heads Up RC.

1. The Power Up 15 Sport with a 40 Amp ESC. It is a bit more powerful than the stock 15 the plane came with coupled with a larger ESC will give you better climb rates with no loss of fly time.

2. The Power Up 25 Sport with 60 Amp ESC. This is what I have and it is great. Used with a 11 x 7E APC prop will develop a thrust ratio of greater than 1:1. You can stand the plane on it tail and it will go up until you push the nose down. At half power with a 3300 mah battery I get 15 minutes fly time with capacity to spare. If I fly like a glider I can stay up for an hour or more. For the Power Up 25 you will need this adapter.

Whatever you do, get rid of the stock 30 amp ESC.....

Good luck.

Power 25 will make that thing a rocket, def go with a bigger esc though.
