I've always used the 148 Futaba servo as "standard size". Most of the time when you buy a Radio system, it will come with 3 or 4 servo's, unless the radio system is marked "for park flyer" or...

you have to big a prop, or the lipo can't supply enough juice etc, etc, etc.

I have lengthened the 3 motor wires extensively on several planes..... no problems. On 2 I had to lengthen the motor to battery wires and on the trusty Whattmeter I didn't see any change.:Q

I ran one on my test stand.....

With a 30amp esc, 3cell lipo, 8x6 apc prop....it pulled a max of 20.23 amps and held pretty well at 22.6 oz's of thrust. Not to bad at all.
