I think you made a good choice. I bought a Futaba 7C which works great but receivers are very expensive. Even the Orange Fasst ones from HobbbyKing are 4x more expensive than the Spektrum version....

mred makes some good points. Having 2 x 3S batteries give you more options. You can always use them in other planes too.
