I also am cautious with the ones with only one antenna. My Airtronics has worked well in my Chrysalis. I don't ever plan to get a park flier receiver. Too many things can go wrong.

I use solid on the fuselage and forward of the wing spar. If the tail surfaces are solid, I also use solid. The leading edge of the wing should be a light color so it can be seen against the trees...

I have covered the outboard side of polyhedral tip section ribs with chrome Monokote and then used transparent over the tip section. At high altitude you can get some very visible flashes at times.

It all depends on conditions. Nothing is perfect all the time. I usually do transparent. It does weigh less if you obsess about weight.

I bet the vibration was during a steep climb. I sometimes get one and use it as a signal to ease off on the climb. I think it comes from the folding prop.

They are an estimation tool. Not always gospel. They don't know what may smoke things. That is your job. You should always follow up by testing as you correctly did. Rely on tests.
