No problem. This is all second-hand, at the moment. I haven't actually tried it myself. All of my Dollar Tree builds are paper-off, usually covered in colored masking tape.

I feel your pain.

I believe your best solution is to hit it with polyurethane. *Not* water-based. It allegedly adds very little weight.
