8.4 volt vs 11.1

Bought a electric powered glider for grand kids - has a 8.4 nicad. Wonder about using 11.1 lipro battery ? Any thoughts ?

Looking for new transmitter battery for Spectrum dx7 -Noticed on ebay someone is advertising LIPO 11.1 volt pack . Or should I just order the NIMM version with 9.6 volt. Thanks
