I think that on a hot 4S system with the LG removed and holes covered, hand launch should be achievable. I think you could get it under 3 lbs easily that way.

That's a decent looking mod for the cheater hole. I'd even go so far as suggesting a third slot be added forward of the current 2. The more airflow, the better (so long as there's not too much ;)).

Actually, the kit itself comes with plastic that you're supposed to glue to the area, but it's not stiff enough. You will be fine with 1/32nd lite ply, that's what I used on all of mine.
