If you're running LiPo batteries, they last longer if they are not stored at full charge. Battery chargers such as the various units of Cellpro line take care of this automatically. If you've just had a flight on your battery pack, the Cellpro chargers will charge your battery UP to the safe storage voltage per cell.
And, if you've just fully charged your battery pack, that same line of Cellpro chargers will discharge each cell DOWN to the safe storage voltage per cell.
Most other quality LiPo charger brands will do the same.
As for me, I fly those A123 cells. They pretty much don't care if they are stored fully charged, half charged, half dead. On the other hand, they are 35% heavier than the equivalent LiPo battery pack, and about 35% physically larger than the equivalent LiPo pack. They also have zero fire hazard, and will last considerably longer than LiPo cells.
I charge my A123's at 5 C, to a full charge in 15-20 minutes. That is a charge rate they handle very well.
