Just got my SkyRC GPS Speed meter from www.skyrc.com
. Preliminary checkouts show it works fairly well, with one big exception.
This unit will track your model, and show its total flight distance, maximum altitude, maximum speed and can overlay it onto a Google Map.
At the field today, it showed the maximum speed of my Kantana model as 93 MPH, maximum altitude 1150 feet above sea level, total flying distance on a 6 minute flight as 3.8 miles.
As for that big exception, when downloading the information to my computer, the maximum speed is way the heck off. The maximum speed on one of my flights was shown as 342 MPH! Even though the readout on the units LCD display showed a maximum speed of 93 MPH on that flight. Will try to find out what's wrong on the internet, but so far, hit a dead end.
Other than that, this is a nice unit. Take a look at the printout of the path my model took on one of a half dozen flights today.
