About to go for my Bronze wings on an E-flight Mentor.. Power 32 motor/Spektrum DX6 Dual receiver. separate servos for each aileron, three separate servos for flaps, elevator, rudder..Receiver and servos powered by own battery.. the 4000mah battery only powered the motor ..
Great Aircraft Btw...Nice flyer.. (sadly they don't make them any more !)
But.. I was flying round local field about two weeks ago; only three adults there...... just finished the third time practice on inwards and outwards manoeuvres
... The local instructor was on the runway... with student picking up aircraft and doing debrief on way off...
Everything safe....and I went wide and round long to give them time to get off so I could practice proceedural turns etc..
On a 5 hectare site.... going wide on the site I hit the only
tree in the area
... Mea culpa.... I COULD NOT BELEIVE IT... SO MAD at myself.... I though I was this side of it. The tree is about 600M from control area..(The club Pres.. said you wern't the first and wont be the last..)
Stuck in the very highest part of a 100m high tree the electrics remained on all night and at least the next day until it fell down...a day or so later.
Upon returning to the ground the front fuselage
section foward of LE was broken off, wings separated and broken in two... BER.. The dual receiver had split as the connection had pulled out form the partner.. All the servos were mechcvnailcally connected via pushrods and they were holding the fusalage peices together..
Anyway the reason I am saying this is would anyone take the risk of using any of the receiver and servos on this....Sending the reciever back for checking and repair.. well two plus weeks and possibility of costing to repair more that a new one... The servos would have been mechanically stressed buy pushrod connections being pulled in all directions by broken fusalage and trees of falling 100M through branches...
Considering a new receiver is around $90 and five H-tech servos around $180... and I dont have a problem with funding that level..
I think I have answered my own question and say not going to take risk and will get new receiver and servos.
Any comments on reuse of equipment after a crash and your experiences of reuse of it...??
