Cool Tulsa Unclub

Just wanted to start thread for our group, Just in case anyone traveling to the Tulsa area wanted to find us, and fly some electrics with us.
The Tulsa Unclub was started because a few guys who did not want to fly with the slimers ended up flying in the same soccer fields, and eventualy met and started flying together.
Unclub
1) always open 24/7/365 (private property with public access and use, soccer fields)
2) No Rules
3) No AMA required
4) No Frequency Board (monitor your own junk)
5) No Politics,(club officers, however James aka smoke johnson, and guy aka Luitenant Laughead, are probably the most pro active at setting up the events.) Thanks Dudes!
6) Fly at your own risk (this means you Brandon Chitty)
7) No Pattern

We are located on the South East corner of 41 St. & Garnett, Way in the back of the complex. We have a Large flying area Big enough for fast planes and EDF. We also have back up fields to fly on, if our main field is being used by the soccer players.

We have about 10 regular pilots, with another 20-30 who show up spuraticaly, or for special events. (ie. night flying, combat, WOOF events)

We may sound a little cold based on the list above, but even though we have no rules. We do practice safe flying. We do help each other, and new people. We do schedual events. We are a great bunch, who enjoy building and flying electric R/C.

Please contact us on Wattflyer if you are comming to the tulsa area, I personaly will make sure you get to fly, even if you can't bring your planes.

Brett,

Great idea setting up a thread for the unClub. I am fortunate to have been welcomed there when I visit family in Broken Arrow. James and Guy have been great in introducing me to the fields.

Hopefully I will get to fly with ya'all again soon!

Smile Tulsa

Thanks
I'll be down there next week for the gun show. Anyone fly there during the week? I'll probably bring a couple of electric warbirds, maybe a Radian if I have room.

Gohmer, I get off work by 3:00 everyday, and by 10am on Thur. I'll pm you with my cell phone #. I've been wanting to fly the Radian, I think this will be my next lazy flyer. We fly our gliders from reclining lawn chairs.

Default FPV Flying

I just moved to Tulsa from Colorado and am looking for a group of people to fpv with. I saw the event for this Saturday posted but there is a chance I may be out of town. If not I will be there for sure. I fly a TBS Discovery and a Bixler 2. I'd love to meet and fly with some other fpv guys as well as the los guys. If anyone is interested send a message or email me. I live about a mile east of the field so I can fly most evenings after 5:00. Thanks

Usually there are people flying FPV and/or LOS every Saturday and Sunday morning.

I fly there from time to time but some times fly at the Glue Dobbers (LOS) and/or at low populated places for Long range FPV.

]Don & Steve, we have thinned a little, and a lot of the guys are more into the big gas planes now, and tend to fly more at the Glue Dobber field. Those of us who still fly weekly at the Unclub, usually fly on Saturday mornings, and are gone by noon.

Default Fpv and Los flying

Surfer dude, thanks for the response and sorry for the delayed response. I have been traveling, sick, and super busy. I thought about coming out last week but it looked super windy. I'll see if I can make it out there this weekend. Are people still fpv-ing out there with the latest and greatest madness from the FAA?

I'm usually there by 8:30, but usually gone by noon.
FAA won't stop me from FPV, just from making a profit at it.

Enjoyed flying with you David (hope I remembered your name right).
Welcome to the Unclub!
We talked about our next FPV plane, and we both stated that we liked the SkyHunter, but I think I have found one I like better, you should check it out.
https://www.flyingfoam.com/ It's called the Nurf. It's a 72" forward swept wing, that will carry a 4cell 5000mah lipo, a GoPro, and fly for over an hour.
I'm still researching it, but I think I will place an order in the next week.
On the FPV threads, those that have it say they like it better than their Penguins, and their TBS wings.
Be sure and watch the videos, and look at the thread on RC Groups. This plane is very smooth, and has a good speed range. 20-70mph, I like the way its put together, and breaks down for transport.

Default FPV Plane

Brett it was good to fly with you as well. Working for Tactical Electronics would be a dream. I checked out their website and it's pretty awesome. I just saw your post on the fpv plane you recommended. I'll take a look this afternoon. I'll probably head out there tomorrow but it looks like it's gonna be pretty windy.

Thanks guys. Looks like I am going to stop by the "flight line" tomorrow morning on my way out of town to introduce my buddies. I would love to take you to the shop and show you around someday. I am out of town all next week but definitely the week after. Maybe we could meet for lunch sometime to discuss projects.
See you at 8:30 tomorrow hopefully!

def: SLIMER = internal combustion engine powered model. Mostly of the "glow plug" variety. Term comes from the fact that the fuel is 1/4 to 1/3 oil, historically castor bean oil, though much of the fuel now uses synthetic oil. The oil does not burn but dribbles out the exhaust and gets blown all over your model. Thus the "Slime" which you'll want to wash off before taking your model home.

Of course you can. I figure we will just keep the WOOF events a "flung watt ya brung" deal.
