This is a custom machined aluminum motor mount for the Flyzone Select Scale Super Cub. It is designed to adapt a 450 size brushless motor to the Flyzone Super Cub for an excellent upgrade in performance. There are no cowl modifcations necessary. This is designed to be a simple bolt on application.

Two step installation (detailed pictures below):

1. Attach new motor to aluminum mount with the motors supplied screws

2. Attach entire assembly to the planes fuselage with new supplied screws

Compatible Motor:

Heads Up RC Power Up 450 Sport

Propeller Compatibility:

GWS EP9050

APC 9 x 4.7

There are quite a few other options based on the type of flying characteristic you are after.

The weight of the Power Up 450, aluminum mount, and propeller collet is 80g. Weight of stock motor and mount is 64g. This extra motor weight will allow you to remove some of the 'dead weight' that was installed onto the super cub which should put the COG right back to stock. Of course the COG should always be checked per the manual after any modifications are done to your plane.

The fit and quality of this mount is excellent. These are manufactured by smallpartsCNC which I own and operate. To reduce cost, these come in bare aluminum as shown in the photos.

Thank You! You should have a lot of fun with the extra power of the Power Up 450 sport motor. Installation should also be a breeze and get you flying quickly.

A side note that I also mention on my website is that the recommended setup (motor and prop) will draw around 15A max which will work great with the stock ESC.

If you are upgrading to the Power Up 450 'Speed' motor, or using a larger prop than the recommended 9x5 prop you may need to upgrade your ESC.

Hi,

The ESC and Prop should be a good match for that motor. Probably won't draw near the max amps, so that is good, and your ESC is well rated for more current.

As far as the motor, I do not know much about that particular motor and have not test fit it with my mount or on the plane.

Couple things to double check. The aluminum mount I sell is designed to attach to a motor bolt pattern that is 16mm x 19mm meaning two holes will be 16mm across and the other two holes will be 19mm across from each other.

The motor diameter should be 28mm (max diameter of the can), and the overall length of the motor (from bolt holes in the rear to the front of the motor not including the shaft) should be 34mm or less. If your motor happens to be a bit longer, that would be OK, but you may need to enlarge the opening on the front of your cowl. I would say the most important thing is the 16x19mm bolt pattern and the outside diameter of the motor.

If your motor meets these specs, then it should fit nicely. If you have the motor with you and want to take some measurements I can double check for you as well.

To convert inches to mm simply take the inches and multiply it by 25.4.

To go from mm to inches, take the mm value and divide it by 25.4.

You're motor should be really close if not a perfect fit. I did see that it is a 28mm diameter on their website. Just not sure what the bolt pattern is.

If you measured in inches from center of hole to center of hole, it should be (16mm) .630" (or just over 5/8") and the longer dimension would be (19mm) .748" (or 3/4"). Your measurement does not need to be exact either.

You will most likely have a 16x16mm, 16x19, or 19x19mm bolt pattern. But most common I have seen on these 450 motors is 16x19mm.

Also, since you have upgraded your ESC as well, you could go with the Power Up 450 Speed which will give you higher KV and more speed.

You mention that two of the holes are further out. Are those two further spaced holes on the mount or on the motor?

Just trying to figure out what your motor spacing is. Sounds like it might be a 16mm x 16mm or 19mm x 19mm bolt pattern.

My mount has two holes 16mm apart and two holes 19mm apart. Let me which it lines up with.

Also, how does the motor fit under the cowl, any issues with rubbing in the front or on the sides of the cowl? Did you have to modify anything, or did everything just bolt on nicely.

I may make a small change to the mount and include a 4 slots ranging from 16mm to 19mm. This will allow for 16x16, 16x19, and 19x19mm bolt patterns.

Quick question. With the E-flite park 450 you have, would you still need to cut the cowl opening at all, or do you think it would have fit perfectly with any modifications. It should fit perfect, but wanted to confirm with you first.

Also, let us know how it flies? I like to hear it has unlimited vertical. People are always asking me about this plane.
