Spektrum DX5e transmitters

My son has two Spektrum DX5e transmitters used with original Spektrum receivers. He suspects that they have caused one or two crashes over the past year.

Someone in www.wattflyer.com has indicated he knows how to improve their reliability???

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I have heard about the power switch contacts failing in the dx5's.

Hayofstacks is right, something about the power switch. Someone here (Or was it RCG?) has something about it in their signature, but I forgot who. Hopefully they'll see this or if I see them again, I'll check back in here. Personally, I never had any issues with my 5e.

edit: BTW my 5e been bulletproof....IMO the ar500 is a different story!

I had an ar500 RX blownup buy a bad esc and it took out a servo at the same time .
but the TX a ( 5e ) still seems to work ok .
But the LHS guy said to go to the 600 RX for better results ?
I did that but till the esc went south the 500 RX seemed to work ok ?

I have a 5E and the power switch did fail. Unfortunately, the green light would still come on and give the impression that all was working okay. However, no RF output. I simply removed the power switch and wired in a new toggle switch mounted on the front panel. Now works okay again.

I removed the slider from the switch itself and jumped the switch leads to the 'on'
position, and wired a new switch into the (+) battery lead.

This will allow the TX to serve as a master for training, but not as a slave. Specific connections to enable 'slave' mode are made by the stock power switch when it is in the 'off' position.

On mine, it did not beep or flicker the power LEDs, during a flight the power glitched so fast the unit did not reboot and beep, but the processor locked up so no TX action.
