I have not tried the Nano versions but can attest to Rare Bear, Recommend going with the mini's versus the nanos. Why? The Mini's are small enough. Nano's will be a handful. Forget about the LG. These are all basically hand launchers and belly landers.

I had the AT-6 Texan - Not recommended. Flew like a drunk squirell. The best of breed is the Rare Bear and the Sea Fury .The Spit is getting some good reviews as of late . For an adrenaline rush, the Rare Bear will go 100+, faster than my Skyangel EDF's. They had a BF ME 109. These planes are very durable and easily repairable. Cheap thrills to say the least ! I have 3 in the 50mm edf series( F-16/ T-45 and Katana)

Banana Hobby (Blitzworks) sells them with gyros now. The other sources HobbyB( Canada but actually ship from China) are Toysonics( California) and HK ( Funfighters)

Give them a try. The nice thing is everything is basically transferable from one plane to the next. Common motors, esc's, servos in case you trash one. You can then buy the airframe only version.

I have the BF-109 FunFighter (the 25" version, not the new nano). I've had trouble keeping it cool, despite my extensive mods.

I will say, though, that it will almost do 100MPH on a 4-cell. I can't remember my fastest run, but it was in the 96-98MPH range which is insanity for an old man flying a 2-foot-wide plane.

Is that with stock electronics?

I replaced the stock ESC with this 40A Detrum as part of my efforts to get the bird to run cooler.

Other people don't seem to have the same problem, so I can't say if it's unique to the 109, or maybe I got a slightly bad motor, or what.

It's still bloody quick on a 3-cell, and doesn't have near the heat problem.

The funfighters must be really cool no doubt, they just look a bit too off scale for me.

The Rare Bbear is a pretty good scale representation if you ask me.. Some of the others may be a bit 'stand-off' scale but they are only intended to be fun sports models, not scale contest jobs.

The rare bear is highly recommended, though on 4s it's not for the feint hearted, approaching 100mph is mighty fast for a very small model.

+1 on the Rare Bear. I have 2 of them. These Jpowers series planes are a blast with the Rare Bear being the best of breed. I hear that the Sea Fury might be a close second in terms of performance. Had an AT-6 Texan and it didn't fly nearly as well as the Bear. The Rare Bear outshines all my edfs and the RadJet in terms of speed and like Jet says, on 4S, they are a knee knocker. Wow !

I don't believe people buys these for their looks in as much as they are simply fun to fly and are very cheap relatively. Call it a "cheap thrill" . Besides HK, Toysonics ( California) and HobbyB (Canada/HongKong) sell them I think Banana may have recently dropped the line. They sell them in PNP, ARF's or Plain Jane airframes.

I can see where they would be a ton of fun for an experienced flyer! Id surely have to try one someday. I find it interesting that there are quite a few 3 channel planes which use ailerons instead of rudder.

I have a lot of interest in that FW-190, but I cannot find anyone that sells parts for it. And I am bound to crash.

+1 for the Rare Bear! I've had mine flying for about a month now and on 4s with an APC 5.25x6.25 prop, it's easily doing more than 100mph.

I'm a big fan of the Focke Wulf 190. There's a great you tube that goes over the complete history of the plane: http://youtu.be/gdPv0h5Kpm4 Really had some advantages over the ME-109.

My concern with the Skyangels version is that it's in the Nano class or 550mm. To me that translates to " hard to handle" and twitchy.

I've got my eyes on the HK 1200mm version.
