Default Goldberg Sophisticated Lady???

Did the Goldberg Co. stop making the SL and why? I would love to build another one. What's a good comparable glider kit that I can build, preferably with an electric motor?

What was I thinking?

The one in the pic looks like a Gentle Lady.

Sophisticated Lady was based on the Gentle Lady with a T-Tail. Not a hard mod to do to a current Gentle Lady kit.

They both generally come out tail-heavy with the original Gentle Lady using 2 standard servos under the wing near LE and 4 cell AA pack as far forward as possible... We generally hollowed the nose block and filled it with lead. Modern mini or micro servos have plenty of power for the model and tend to make it even more tail-heavy.

Conversion to e-power is not hard. Just delete the nose block and bolt on the motor The fuselage access hatch forward of the wing is the right place for the battery. You still may need nose weight...

It wouldn't take long to draw up how to do the T-Tail... I'd go with a "flying stab" and Sullivan flex cable type pushrod. for simplicity.

*********

Electra was a reinforced Gentle Lady with speed 500 can motor and used 6 cell sub-C car pack for power. The wing was reinforced to handle the weight and the result was a pig.
