Default Extreme flight extra 45" cowl

Guys I had an accident with a Extreme flight 45" extra and damaged the cowl. Does anyone know where i can find one. I have been looking at different forums and have had no luck. It was gotten from a friend that passed and i would like to put it back together. Any help would be appreciated.

Just order one from Extreame Flight. Might cost about $30-40
I was given an EF Laser that had lost elev control. The cowl was smashed pretty bad but I repaired it, I did however need to order a new canopy, can't fix that with fiberglass.

FYI. I glued the cowl back into shape with CA glue, and then fiberglassed the inside, didn't gain much weight. Fill the little outside chips with bondo.

The 45" Extra was discontinued a few years back EF did carry stock of spares for a long time but it looks like they are now out of cowls: http://www.extremeflightrc.com/store...products_id=79

You might pick up an airframe cheap on eBay or elswhere, alternativly it's usually possible to piece a fibreglass cowl back together.

If you still have the damaged cowl it CAN be made serviceable again... I crushed one fiberglass cowl shortening it from 12 in long to 2 in long and with a couple hours work i had it looking like new.

Stretch it back into shape and CA.
Lay in 3/4 oz fiberglass to reinforce the weakened areas on the inside.
Line the inside with plastic wrap.
Spray foam fill it to give it support while you work from there. (2 or 3 applications waiting for it to cure each time since more than 2 in thick the foam doesn't cure right)
Fill and sand... fill and sand...
automotive gray primer and repaint.

Note that the plastic wrap is so you can pop the foam out after the repair is complete.

You might be able to use a Extra Cowl from another brand of Plane.

My experience has been that different brands seem to purposefully make the cowls unable to be used on some other brand's airplane.
