Default How many planes do you have in flyable condition?

I had another wondering thought tonight after seeing all of Nigel’s posts on the different planes he’s flying again and taking stock on what I have in the basement right now.

So the question is, how many planes do you have in flyable condition right now?

I have 16. Much more than I thought!

1. Mountain Models P-51
2. Mountain Models Firestorm
3. Mountain Models EVA with all 3 wing sets
4. Stevens Aero Daddy-O 525
5. Stevens Aero Groove G-480
6. Hobby Lobby Flame
7. DJ Aerotech Chrysalis 2M-E Glider
8. Pocket Rocket – From plans by pd1
9. Stevephoon 3D – Hobbyzone Typhoon 3D wings and tail with a scratch built fuselage
10. SSPR – Steve’s Simple Pylon Racer – Scratch Build
11. Pusher Jet – From plans by Chellie
12. Ace MachNone scratch built from fan fold foam
13. Fast and Furious - Streamer Combat plane
14. Delta Jet by World Models – ARF Ducted Fan
15. Parkzone Ember – (Ver 1 before DSM2)
16. Frankenplane – Mountain Models Dandy wing with a scratch built fan fold foam fuselage.

I don’t have picts of all of these yet… I’ll update this post with the missing planes someday.

I have flown everyone of these planes at least once this year! I think that's a pretty good year! (But it's not over yet!)

Also 2 unbuilt kits and 1 plane in need of repairs. That's a pretty good ratio of flyable planes!

Steve

ps. The wife is beginning to ask things that mean I may need to cut down the herd...

If you mean fully assembled with no damage then at last count 31. If you mean plug in a battery and fly then probably about 22. I've been yanking gear from a few planes I'll likely never fly again. I don't know how I let it get so out of hand. The problem is I keep building and I just don't have room for any more until I sell off the pile of cars and trucks taking up a good portion of the hangar. I've got to get that stuff on craigslist for a local sale. Then I can build more planes. LOL!

Man - I've got around 30-35 planes, copters and quads. Probably two dozen or so in flyable condition. Many of the non-flyable models are in fine shape but have had their Rx or ESC stolen and put in another plane.

Wow, I thought I was going way overboard with the numbers of planes I fly... It seems like I'm just the middle of the pack.

Now to convince the wife that most people have more and I should do something about that.....

Yeah
Does anyone have any info on a giant scale tail dragger model with about 80 inch wingspan, 1200 square inches or so, designed as a twin power system?

This would be powered by a pair of Hacker A50-12S motors.

I think about 10 (not home but at work trying to visualize the hanger). Of course all need balance check & a battery charge to be launch ready.

Nice thing about those overweight, oversized, undervoltaged A123 cells. I just top them off at the field after a days flying and put them in my truck.

Next time the weather is decent, whether it be next day, next week, or next month, I just pull them out, and go fly. They can be stored at full charge, and hold 95% of their charge after a year in storage.

That's the main reason my "little" models flying with LiPo's are flown rather rarely.

I've got about 30 a123 cells and have them in all kinds of stuff. Only flown them 4S1P in my Tyro 150 and briefly on a T-Rex but I have them in dustbusters, lamps and an emergency light. I've also built a 4S2P pack that's been in my motorcycle for almost 3 years now. The crazy thing is that every cell was harvested from used "defective" DeWalt drill packs. Gotta love these cells.

My total reduced by 1 this last weekend .... too low ... too fast .... and too confident ! My Mini4 just disintegrated when she clipped the ground ..........

Shame as that was one hell of a model performer ... will just have to see about another one ... wing was fine but fuselage was a complete wreck and that's something for me to say ... takes a lot for me to accept the end of a model ...

Hey Guys ; Boy do I feel like a loser I only have 4 at present
Slow Stick,
DL - 50 dlg
Radian -Motor Glider
UMX Radian Very Small copy of the Full size Radian but flies great even in 5 mph wind
When I came into the hobby a few years back I made a lot of Big Mistakes. Bought a lot of Junk from that other websites Classified .I am sure you know which one , but it was my own fault because I had not a Clue of what I was doing or buying.
As a Result I have about 15 gliders and a few motorized planes in different states of repair that I have been working on seems like forever. Slowly but surely I am getting them in somewhat flying condition but I seemed to be getting side tracked with my fascination with Blue Core Foamies. I am retired and on a somewhat fixed income(Work Part Time as a Substitute Teacher at a local Middle School) so the foamies fit my budget.
Just by reading what you guys post has helped me greatly especially that nice lady from the West Coast Chille . I have picked up a lot of tricks and shortcuts from you guys over the past years and I thank you for that!! Oh well back to the work bench Hope everyone had flying weather for Labor Day. FDNYJERY

Yeah

Little bit off topic, but, for those also flying giant scale electric or gasoline/glow engine powered models, two of these 2300 Milliampere Hour A123 cells far outperform the "AA" sized 5 cell Nickel Hydride cells for receiver/servo power. A two cell 2300 Mah A123 pack is also about 1/2 ounce less weight than a 5 cell AA sized Nih pack.

Here is a bit of info on this use for these A123's

Jpowers L39- I liked it up until I destroyed it.
Unique Models T-50- Total loss

In need of repairs:

Freewing A6 Intruder- a complete mess after crash on Saturday. Will overhaul.
GP Piper Cherokee /Arrow- wing tip. Some minor balsa and covering damage

Phase 3 F-16
Jpowers Viper
Freewing Stinger- Snaps on me

Flyable and currently enjoy:

Phoenix Model EMB 312 Tucano- By far the best ARF I ever bought. Have Mr. RC Sound (turbo prop) in the that one. Fly's great.
Gunfighter PZ P-51- Souped up with Powerup 15. Great flyer though taped together.
Freewiing Mosquito- Don't fly it as much as I should. Very nice plane though.

I must admit, I've been a bit hard on the equipment recently.

I just retired my original PZ Spitfire. I don't want to fly it anymore as there are NO parts anywhere. I stripped all of my mods to move to other planes and put original parts back in. I have turned it in to a hanger princess. So, that being said, I now only have 16 fixed wing and 3 multirotors, tri, quad, hex. Hello, my name is Chris and I have a problem

HZ SuperCub. PZ Spit(Older), Dynam EZ Hawk, GWS A-10(prop), HL F9F Panther, GWS ME-109, E-Flite P-47D, Jodel BeBe 9, HL Wicked Wabbit P-47, BL Slow Stick, PZ T-28, Electrifly SE-5A, HL Mig-15, PZ Stinson, Quad and Tricopters

I've found that, despite once having said "This one plane is all I'll ever want," I tend to acquire planes at a rate of about one a month. Fortunately, I've only been in the Hobby for four years!

Ok, let's see.

Pop in a battery and fly:
UMX Radian
UMX Stryker
UMX Pitts
Apprentice (non SAFE, my first plane!)
PZ Corsair (also the 1st version, my 2nd plane!)
Radian
E-Flite F-4 Phantom
Hobby Lobby F-4D1 Skyray
Starmax F-35
FMS 1400 mm P-51
EF Edge540QQ
HK F-104 Starfighter (though I really should correct the mismatched wing incidence problem)
MPX Pilatus PC-6 ( newest plane. Maiden tomorrow)
Flat foam XF5U (built for the $100 build contest here)
NanoQX quad
Blade MCX S-300
Blade Cx-2

From minor repair to still in the box:
MPX Mentor (esc smoked after a flip in the lake)
P3 EF--16 (still in box. Couldn't resist sale price)
HK F--4d1 Skyray (still in box waiting for me to crash or wear out the 1st one)
UMX MiG -15 (need to fix h-stab)
FMS 800 mm P--51 (in process of repainting like Voodoo racer)
Unknown P-51 balsa slope soarer (given to me by a friend, converting to electric. Recover in Strega scheme)
Balsa mini-Drake seaplane kit (I'm waiting to build my courage to continue battle with it. ..)

Hmm. Don't think I missed anything. And still always looking for the next one.
