Thumbs up NEAT Fair 2009

OK guys and gals . The NEAT Fair is fast approaching. Last year, although a little damp, was a blast. It was my first experience night flying. It was my first visit to the worlds largest electric oriented hobbyshop too.
If you can swing it, get your butt there ! Fri,Sat, Sun.Sept. 18,19,20

Is this the same Al Ramsdell that provided the aerial shot that I used in the RCU NEAT fair coverage last year?

My RCUniverse team be there in force this year, putting on the "full court press" with coverage. Expect booth and pilot interviews as well as the usual write-up. Our team this year:

Ed "Mr. Fantastic" Britton, on-screen personality, still photography
"Papa Jeff" Ring, still photography, video, and general schmoozer
Matt "Don't you dare give me a nickname" Kirsch, yours truly, writer, director, editor, and producer

I just mailed off my pilot registration check yesterday, and will be there Friday and Saturday. I'll be hanging out with Brian at the Mountain Models booth. This will be my fifth NEAT, and as always I'm looking forward to it.

Nope. I'll be flying that same plane again this year. I am experimenting with ailerons on it. (Great planes Yardstick) meant for Rud/elev.thr. Midaired last year after about 5 or 6 rounds. What a blast.

Check out my new Spitfire this year. It is Oh-My-God fast.........

Great minds think alike! I stuck some ailerons on a Super Cub and it's got some great adverse yaw!

See ya in the moonless NEAT sky!

I started with one aileron servo. NFG. Adverse yaw almost completely negated the effect. I'm changing the Rx to a 2.4 XPS park 6ch Rx. Gets me off 72 mhz so I won't be wondering about Freg. conflicts. I'll be adding yet another aileron servo this weekend and program for up aileron only each side. that should get it turning.

See you guys on Sat. I managed to weasel out of work so I'm coming up. Last time I tried the rains flooded out the whole thing. Not gonna fly, just poke around. Gonna try to bring RyanFlyer with me, too.

Had a GREAT time on Sat. My oldest son and Patrick (RyanFlyer) came with me. My Da was not feeling up to it, I wish he had come

Some really good flyers out there. Highlights for me were someone breaking the laws of physics with a heli and the whole mid-afternoon show. For what its worth I am now absolutely sure I will NEVER fly at a meet like that. I am just not ever gonna get there, if you know what I mean.

A little windy I thought, but a few good deals were there- although I resisted. Came really close to pulling the trigger on a used P47 bubbletop, but by the time I went back it was gone. Same for the N/I/B Multiplex Twisters for $120.00.

I forgot my camera, but I grabbed a few pics with my phone. Once I learn how to get them out I'll post 'em.

It's been a few weeks since NEAT. I remember it well. I flew a foamie F-22 pusher from Mountain Models this afternoon, in the wind, in my small from yard. I got it at NEAT. It first flew last weekend. What a blast it is.
3 channels used and elevon mixing required. Rudder can be added although not shown in instructions. 10 g motor and 4 g servos. I used a 3s 300 lipo and an Eflite park 180 motor. Loops in it's own length. Lands VERY slow.
Planning something for next NEAT Fair. The building season is just about here.
