Heck you would want to wait until next summer now. Not much eye candy on the lakes this time of year.

It has been a great blessing though to spend lots of time with my daughter. These are precious years for sure. Rumor has it I'll be going back to work, perhaps as soon as next week so the budget should begin to get a little relief here soon.

You can forget about introducing my buddy John to R/C. He doesn't live in Monument, CO anymore. He's moving to Milan, IT!

Write more when you catch your breath!
Bub Sorry to hear about the lay off, not good news now a days. I count my blessings that I have a recession resistant job. Course my pay raises for the next three years are being delayed till things turn around. Just got done spending two wonderful ,and quiet, weeks with my wife and daughter. Got to dig out from under lots of snow from the early storm but it was fun. Even got some sledding in already.

Haven't flown in three months, but hopefully life will settle down some and I'll get back into it again. Need to knock off some of this rust before I get the WAA squirt to fly.

I started a new flying student today. He did really well. But then, I had pretty high expectations since he's got decades of full-size experience, including aerobatics and sailplanes. He's never tried R/C before though, and neither of us was surprised when he suffered orientation issues. R/C really is very different from riding in the bird you're guiding. He's ready for more so we plan to continue on Thursday afternoon. He also struggled somewhat with the lack of seat-of-the-pants feedback.

He's utterly fascinated with the UFO Assassin wing. He saw me flying it Sunday afternoon and had a zillion questions about it.

UFO = Utah Flyers Organization

Assassin = http://www.utahflyers.org/index.php?...ask=view&id=34

An EPP flying full-contact combat wing specifically designed for HIGH DURABILITY.

The one I have has been nosed straight in from 50', bounced 5' in the air, and went nose-in a second time still at full throttle. After we stopped laughing so hard we couldn't stand up straight, we picked it up and tossed it back in the air.

Why wait 'til Saturday??? It's supposed to be calm all night. Didn't you outfit it with LED's? Friday looks tolerable as well, less than 10 mph.

Just call me the PUSHER!

Mine's powered by a $6 Turnigy clone of a TowerPro bell outrunner (1200 Kv) with an 8x6 prop, SuperSimple ESC, and Rhino 1750 mAh 2S lipo. I did have to change out the HXT-900 servos for metal gear units though as we kept busting gears in the servos (wonder why?). I've also flown it with a 3S lipo and 8x3.8 prop for more speed. However, since it's intended for a beginning pilot we fly the 2S set up.

We built with full reinforcement including the ironed-on 3M Extreme Tape and nylon construction cord CA'd around the perimeter. A prop saver is a good idea as well.

Going to have to bide my time with the assasin plane for a little while. Too many other things going on right now. Be a nice winter project though.

It's an interesting airframe design with no explicit vertical surfaces. It will occasionally oscillate in the yaw axis, but the up-side is there's nothing to break off!
