Default reversing servo travel

can you reverse servo travel when you have atransmitter that doesn't have that option?

I have a HeliMax Axe Cx that needed a replacement servo but it travels the wrong direction. The TX does not have servo reversing capabilities that I can find.

Any thought?

Thanks!

If for some reason you can't use an external device like Nitro referenced it's usually possible to reverse a servo direction by swapping the two "end point" wires on the position sensing potentiometer. PM me if you have to go this path, but I'd suggest looking at the external device first.

You need to swap the wires on the motor too.

That transmitter looks similar to the ones supplied with a lot of RTF planes. On those transmitters there are a row of switches to the left of the off/on switch for reversing servos (see image).

Try this...

Press down on the label to the left of the off/on switch and see if retangular impressions are left where the openings in the case are that allows access to the switches. If so, you might try cutting out one of them to see if there is a switch inside.

If you find the impressions, and there are 5 of them, they are in this order, left to right:

V-tail mixing on/off
Channel 1 Reverse
Channel 2 Reverse
Channel 3 Reverse
Channel 4 Reverse

If there are only 4, then the transmitter doesn't have V-tail mixing.

Yep, and I'll bet the servo reversing switches are located under the Heli-Max lable next to the off/on switch.

That transmitter looks just like the one that came with my Wing Dragon 4 except without the servo switches showing.

I'd take that bet! I have seen crystals hidden behind metal stick on badges but not switches. It would be a first for my eyes (not saying its impossible at all, just I've never seen it). In this case it appears the crystal is on the front panel, opposite the on/off switch. I honestly dont think this radio has reversing when finding details online.

pstrdenver, have you looked into the battery compartment? Sometimes reversing switches are inside there.

Also, different brands of servos travel in opposite directions; for instance, a Hitec and Futaba will go in opposite directions with the same input. To electrically change the direction a servo goes, you must open up the servo and interchange the two outer wires on the pot and the two wires to the servo motor. This may be difficult if the motor is directly attached to the PC board inside the servo. If it is attached by wires, it is fairly easy if you can solder well.
