ye, thanks for the tip. the coax copters is great for their stability and forgiving characteristics.
but i think i can handle the belt. i flew the shuttle sxx with no problem back in the days, and on simulator i have no problem hovering, hovering nose agaisnt me, hovering upside down, with the sharpest 3d copters. so i should be able to handle the belt, i just need to throw the stock radio in the bin and get a setup i can feel familiar with on my futaba. edit: wow, this mystical gyro switch actually reveals its a quite advanced one. back in the hirobo days, all gyros but the msot expensive ones was mechanical, and only proprotional regulators (meaning that if you kick the tail, the gyro "counterkick" on the tail rotor). but it appears the switch on the radio is switching on and off integral gyro stabilization. meaning that if you kick the tail, the gyro will integrate the acceleration of the movement, and not only "counterkick" the tail, but also adjust tail back to its original position before the "kick". effectively a headlock, literally. i thought that was just a marketing hype word, but it really is a head locking gyro ![]() genious ![]() i also found that with the integral turned off, and gyro gain adjusted high, the gyro WILL NOT WORK. i guess thats where i screwed up. thats a bad case of design error, if its not a error only on mine. |

My first heli, my first scale project and first hovering the LAMA with out any stabilisation system. I am at my 50 mins of hovering and and many approach exercices on a helipad on only 18 mins logtime experiences on a helicopter. Took me a year to acheive slowly. Working closely with my buddy scale master builder and flyer. Life could'nt have been better for me with such experimented expert & viewing all my doing and supporting my built. All the electronic's and conversion was made by this great master builder. So I was in good hand in all view. When the time came to test the LAMA, my buddy took care of all ajustments, hovering, foward flight, till it came to what we expect when you do scale flying. The LAMA since the photo above as change greatly. Since I was trying many design's and testing on her while the time of the photo. Now here is how she look's like. Been flying hover since the 17 of september,,, the time I took my real first hover for real and the instructor master flyer beside me. All when better then expected for me,, and my Buddy who was really suprise how I was doing on the pilot in command seat. I was also. Well to make a short story short,,, he,he,, It flies like a dream and till now,, and will not jump any stages on the learning. Go slow,, it is why I'm in this hobby... I come from the front seat on the fully scale jet's environememt. Enjoy the LAMA all ! And if you feel like doing this LAMA as your next project,,, Go for it,,, you'll have the time of your life doing so ... We have tested new biger blades and all is just awesome,,, great lift effect and will be add later for me to fly with those biger one ! I've also flown other helicopters and have no problems with orientation... but this thing is so scale (and expensive) I'd have an apoplectic fit if something happened to it. I may have already posted pictures of it... but it's just so cool... I may post them again! lol If you talk to John... tell him Buzz in Daytona said..."Making progress here!" Buzz |

Ok, here's another of Scalemaster's creations. Lots of work to do yet... but it's the only one in the world. The AH6 .... cannons and rocket launchers will be wired for light and sound.
This is NOT the skimpy kit of the same helicopter. This is a one off design. |
