Dx6i flap programming tip I learned

So I was installing flaps on my new used FMS 1400mm P-51 a couple of days ago. After I was finished, I was thinking, boy I wish the flaps came down a little further.

On the TRAVEL ADJ page, I had the flaps at 100 up and down, and interestingly, adjusting the up side didn't effect the flap travel.

So I was browsing the programming pages some more, and came upon the FLAPS page (Where you can also program in some elevator movement with the flaps if needed), and found that the NORM (up) position is defaulted to 0, and down defaulted to 100. When you dial in more into the NORM number, I found the flaps moved more up...

So basically, the default setup in the Dx6i gives only 50% servo travel. I will be able to us the threads in the clevises and how far out they are attached to the control horn to get more travel, but I wish I realized this before I glued in the servoes and made the pushrods.

The lesson for me is to set the NORM flap position to a higher number, like 75, before starting a project like this, to get more travel range if you wind up needing it. You can always reduce the LAND side if you have too much travel.
