Hate to hear of your problems Dave. If you ever get it lined out it is a sweet plane.
Here is a video from yesterday. This is actually the second flight after I turned up the expo. At the beginning I talk about moving the battery around but later I moved the battery back and I liked it better. The camera man was having trouble with his good camera so this is from one of those gum pack camera's. For no more than it cost ($20) it does pretty good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TpXI...layer_embedded |

When I fly this plane this week it is going to be at a very wide open field with lots of height. Hopefully my results will be better than last time. With 3s 1500 mAh 30c battery AUW is just under 23 ounces. My CG is right around 4 inches to 3.75 inches from leading edge. I have some expo set for this next flight with DR set at 50%. I just hope this motor is going to give enough with a 10x5 on it. Will take some video of the flight. |

James, nice video. That first landing looked a bit like some of mine :o I'd say if your flying on white days you need to get some color on the bottom of the wing
![]() Even with the ailerons off a little I like the plane. I don't know where it fits into my fleet but it will stay. I consider it in between a crunchie and an EPP so it's a plane I can fly in less than perfect environments. For now I'm flying less 3D and more IMAC style just because I have to keep it too high when practicing 3D. With any wind at all the plane flies much better for me with 2200's instead of 1350 batteries. I really like much larger planes but the smaller ones give me flying times at closer fields. I figure if I get good at 3D then I can fly in even smaller places. In close and up tight is always a lot of fun. I'm going to get some foam and cut out the 42" Yak 55 EPP for my next build so I can practice 3D without trashing the Airfoilz. |

LOL, yeah Dave hopefully I can smooth those landings out as I get a little more comfortable with it. And yes I do need some color on the bottom of the wing, at least a couple of black stripes.

I finally took the 540 out for it second flight after the repairs from the maiden. I took the video on the Turnigy mini cam http://tinyurl.com/ycvwm7y. I wear a head harness so I can record when I am alone. The plane flew nicely and trimmed relatively quick. I have a link to my video if you are interested in seeing the plane fly or if you would like to see how well the camera works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8TvE1StVHc |

I'm flying mine a little but not so much lately as I'm trying to get a 55" Bucker set up and tweaked out right. Much fun!

Hey glad to hear it Nitro man that is a loooong time coming, and you got your money back I think. Amazing how good people get the screw and slimeballs get away with stuff.
The last time I flew mine was 3 weeks ago, and I planted it into the pond out back. Ice is very hard I need to repair the nose this is a weak area not a whole lot of material to work with snapped the motor mount area about 2 inches back off. I need to figure out how to repair this with out adding to much wgt. |

I have had this plane for a few months and it was underpowered by a Hacker A20-22L. It pulled about 176 watts at 17.5 amps.
I just put on a CSRC E5-L-13 and pulled 300W at 27A on the bench with a fully charged TP 1350 ProLite. I previously thought this plane was sorta fun, but underpowered. I can't wait to fly it tomorrow! It is such a nice plane and deserves to be powered correctly I think. I was always a bit disappointed with it, but I'm certain it will perform up to its potential now. e |

Putting one together now.
APCe 10x5 Cobra 2217/20 - 960kv Dynamo 25A (30A burst) w/BEC 1x Sky Lipo 3s1300 mah 30c & 1x Nano-Power 3s1400 mah 35C Lipo (from a previous plane) 2x EMax ES08-MA servos - Ailerons 2x HS-65MG servos - Rudder / Elevator Lipos of 25C rating are plenty for most people, even doing 3D. I used this setup in a 39" Flat Fuse/Airfoil Wing foamy about 2 oz lighter and it was a rocket, even in a 8 mph wind. However, I am putting carbon fiber strips on the trailing edges of the ailerons & rudder because of a mishap on my last plane when the wind gusted to around 11 mph and it tore the rudder bottom and one elevator loose from the hinges. I also saw the ailerons flexing too much in the wind. Cost me my plane, but I did get it to the ground for a real landing! Yeah! Too much damage to get it straight after repairs. |

bubsteve,
Yeah, I can imagine that it would like a couple of fewer ozs on the airframe. I may get a pair of 1000 mah lipos in a few weeks. I know that my 39" airframe was a bit difficult to hover and slow fly, but it worked out great in 7 mph winds. thanks for the advice. Allen B |

is it because the Handles so great, are fairly cheap and easy to repair.[unless they become to heavy with glue ].perhaps it's because they require so little space to fly in, so that a small ball park diamond is enough to fly in . i am 99% sure i said after trashing my second airfoilz yak, that would be the last one.......but on the ride home from work today i said to my wife how i need a foamy so i can get more stick time in the local ball parks after work. she's a go for it kinda girl and wonders why i even mention it since it's not expensive like some of the other stuff i buy and never mention them ,i guess it's because it's the third one coming.....i really need a small throw away plane that handles great.[it's what i call the airfoilz, but don't really mean it.]so heres the question...is the edge better than the yak?if so i'll p/u the edge and join the edge thread. does any one else find the profile fuse's to be a little weak to cracking or tail section snapping . it can fall off the pits tables and sustain serious damage . thankfully it's so easy to fix. has anyone reinforced the fuse during assembly without sacrificing the light weight.? added carbon fiber rods ect..ect.

Flew the first 2 flights today on my plane. Very nice. Handles well. I used a 10x4.7SF prop instead of the 10x5.5. It was a little slow, but maneuvered well.
5.5 minutes on a 3s1400 mah pack doing mixed flight at 3/4 throttle mostly, left me with 35% in the pack. wind was running about 4-5 mph. Great day & plane |

congrats on the maiden flights
.i 'v been working on parkjets and the edge arrived but isn't finished yet. i squeezed the wing to slip the spar in place with gorilla glue and the foam snapped a crack around 8"s long just behind the spar. i emailed 3dx hobbies and was willing to buy a replacement wing . i emailed customer support, and Paul g said no problem.....he'll ship one to me free of charge . they are on vacation so i hope to get it when they get back next week. talk about great customer service,i was shocked since i didn't know if the foam was brittle or if i just shouldn't squeeze it to slide the glued spar and wings together. what everthe cause,Paul cares about the customer and thats important in todays economy.i love the airfoils yak and wrecked 2 of them already flying them fast and fun aerobatic[not a 3d pilot yet]. the edge nx is supposed to be a little tamer to handel....but knowing how i fly these foamy's,i'll be buying more in the future...lol
