Thanks.
I haven't flown it yet ("Gale force winds"). The AUW is about 13.5 ounces. It's got 266 square inches of wing with a span of 26.5". I'm hoping that adds up to enough lift and power to get it off the ground. And, yes; that's a peanut butter jar.

Hey All! I have been ordering from Heads Up for a while now. I can't tell you how impressed I am with the quality, prices, and customer service. I own 21 planes. My last 5 were built entirely from Heads Up equipment...from the prop to the battery. I am am currently building balsa ARFs, but have converted most of my foamies over too. I am also building planes for others using Heads Up. A nice ARF fully equipped with everything but a radio from Heads Up is alot better bargain than a foamie with questionable parts for the same price or more. I am currently building a World Models Ultimate EP. It is a beautiful plane. I will post some pics as soon as I figure out how to do it. I am new on here, so please be patient. I also built a World Models Cessna Skylink EP recently. I am expecting a Wings Maker J-3 Piper Cub tomorrow. I am going to have to rebuild the motor mount to accomodate a brushless motor. Not sure what motor to put in that one yet. I am wondering if anyone has experience with the E-Flite Leader 480 or the Multiplex Gemini.

Heads Up beat me to it. Airborne models is out of Livermore CA. I have had very good luck with World models and Wings Maker. I used the Emax GT2215/12 motor in it with a Hurc 30 amp esc. I used TP SG90 servos for the ailerons and TP MG90 servos for the rudder and elevator. I used the Power Up 2.4ghz Rx with a 1800mAh 30C Ez Flite Lipo. I am spinning a 10x5 Apc Prop. I believe the Cessna Skylink EP does come with a decent Brushless motor, but it comes with a 3mm prop shaft and folding propeller. That is the main reason why I switched the motor out. Great Planes does make a Prop adapter that goes from 3mm to 5mm. I paid $99.00 for the plane and, in my opinion, it is a good deal. I would advise using a programmable radio because, without dual rates, the plane is kind of twitchy. On the Dx6i, I am using 60% on ailerons, 70% rudder, and 70% on elevator for low rates. The only downside is the nose gear. It is fixed, but I am sure it would be possible to make it steerable. You kind of have to be careful with motor selection, because the motor is mounted behind the engine mount and there isn't alot of room for a huge motor. The Emax that I am using is a perfect drop in fit if one decides not to use the factory supplied motor.

Just wanted to say thanks to heads up, delivering and awesome product. I don't think I will be able to doubt the specs you have listed on your motors. I just ran my slow fly 450, hit 239 watts peak 19.9 amps peak. Your specs were listed as 240w max and 16amps with my prop. I wonder I that is a change in elevation or something? I am right near 4500ft. Very good power and performance out of this motor.
I will be doing more testing, maybe set up a fish scale or rig up a motor testing stand to get a better idea how close it is, and post rpms as well. The rpm meter I have is anolog, and old. But it reads right where I think it should. Pics to come later tonight. |

Might be because when I tested the watts I used two batteries, and the amp draw was off of one. I was trying to be consistant, by using minimum and maximum results. Oh well. Picking up the kids at 5, so I'll have to keep the toys put away till dark.

StuntBipe + Headsuprc = FUN!!!
As soon as the StuntBipe was back in stock I ordered one along with the combo package Headsup offers. Wow, nothing else to buy, that's a first for me. Followed the video and It went together quickly. I did add wheel collars to the push rods just to be safe. It's comical to fly. It looks strange but flies great. I was flying, almost brushing, the top of the winter wheat. The most fun is flying effortlessly a couple feet of the ground. I fly my pattern within the width of the runway. You can literally spot land this thing at your feet. As awkward as it looks it does roll pretty good. Inverted flight was more like inverted fright! the under cambered airfoil doesn't like upside down. It even kinda hovers, sort of. It doesn't like fast either, kinda hunts all over the place. But that's not what it is designed for. It's more like a giant Vapor but for the outside. Actually i could easily fly this in a Gym. Next step is lights and into the night sky I go! It's a lot of fun, and that ladies and gentlemen is what it is all about. |

Arrrrgh. I was finally getting the hang of deciphering all the motor number designations and everything on HURC is changed. Any reason why?
