I have never been to this event, but I have heard good things about it from my fellow club members. I'm looking forward to it! http://www.skymasters.org/events/flyers/electricfly.pdf and http://www.skymasters.org/ Steve |

I attended my first non club event yesterday and here are some pictures. Unfortunately, the wind was blowing from 15-20 MPH almost the whole time I was there. This kept a lot of pilots away and almost all of the smaller planes grounded. I was always very nervous flying and did not do my best... There were about 25 registered pilots and only a few spectators. There was a nice fix of planes present, but the wind kept too many grounded.
There was an FPV plane and setup that someone brought. This was the first time I have ever seen one of these in person. He did not fly it as FPV, but let others watch the monitor while he flew. Very cool! I also run into someone I work with who was looking to get back into flying. I didn’t know he used to fly.. One of those small worlds’ moments. There were two special guests present as well. Mark Freeland from Retro-RC and Keith Shaw. Mark proved that even his small planes can handle the wind with ease and Keith flew like only he can. They also had raffles for prizes. A random drawing of pilot numbers. They gave away 50% off coupons by Castle Creations, gift certificates from a local hobby store, (The Prop Shop in Warren MI) and a couple of planes. A World Models Delta Jet EP, a FlyZone Focke Wulf FW-190 and Mark donated one of his kits from Retro-RC (I'm not sure which one). These got the pilots attention! A nice grilled lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers and chili just for for a donation was available. Lots of water and pop was available as well. Their field was really nice. The sun was behind us the whole time and no plane eating trees were close to the field. A good time was had by all! Thanks to the Skymasters club for hosting a great event! Steve |
