Yeah i read most of the thread, well that is the same wing as on my WD from Art-Tech which also comes with one that does not have ailerons.
We all know we can get the same plane from different places with different names but they are the same plane.

Lancer is correct, it's a Begin Air, not a Wing Dragon. The wing on the Begin Air is more rectangular shaped, whereas the Wing Dragon wing has a tapered leading edge at the wingtips.

But other than that, they are essentially the same.

Sorry my mistake as i can see that now you have pointed it out,

As you say theres not a lot in it though and i wouldn't of noticed if you hadn't of said, still the wing dragon was one of my first planes and i wouldn't be in the hobby now if it hadn't been for that great flying plane,oh and a HZ firebird Phantom.

Hate to be a pedant, but when the plane was bought it was an Art Tech Wing Dragon Sporter, Chinese spelling incl . I bought one earlier in '07 and learnt to fly with it, back then they had the red flat wing with ailerons .
I still have my hanging in my hanger, although I did replace many parts whilst learning to fly . I have two friends who have started the hobby with the newer yellow/orange version which is now on sale here in the UK/Europe.
This picture was taken back in '07 when Wiggy visited the UK, here I am explaining the mission to a passing dog walker, my Wing Dragon is on the floor.

Paul.
Currently in hanger :
Wing Dragon-Sporter, MPX Easystar, Fox, Gemini, Funjet, Acromaster, Ripmax Spitfire, FVK Bandit, Parzone Spitfire XI and Arrow/TKM Kart !

Default Whatever....

A Wing Dragon, by any other name.......etc.
(By the way, a "hanger" is for hanging clothing, etc. The place where they store airplanes is a "hangar".
Semantics & grammar aside, it was still a great project to be part of!

'Hangar'. I stand corrected and will use the spell check facility more proficiently in the future .

Just wondering. This plane had an interesting adventure, as did its various pilots.

I think Wiggy still resides with John:

John,

Did you ever get in contact with Tim again? He went black again shortly after popping back in here just over 2 years ago.

Wiggy is sitting in my hobby room nicely packed up in her custom box. I had her assembled and flight-ready back in Germany. I took her out on two separate occasions to fly but the wind never cooperated. I didn't want to risk crashing WG1! Now I am stationed at Ft Sill, OK.

I agree. I thought it was a little sad that the story just kind of ended. I would gladly help Wiggy get to the AMA museum or something like that.

As for Tim, no I never was able to get in touch with him. I tried numerous times to contact him via work e-mail and even once through a contractor who knew him and saw him on occasion.

Please call me John. I came up w/ Max2112 when I thought you were all internet predators after me Lucky Charms!!

I think the next step is to see if AMA will accept Wiggy. That is where she belongs. Tim appears to be out of the picture, but I think he was for the AMA as a final depository for Wiggy. At least I think so.

I agree. I think Tim had the same thing in mind. Numerous contact attempts and two years of silence here should about cover the fact that contact with Tim now seems unlikely.

It is sad that Tim is off the radar, but Wiggy must move on. With all she's done and been through, she deserves to be more than individual memories, which in and of themselves are priceless.

I agree, Wiggy needs to be in the AMA museum next to the other traveling models. The Moth is already there, SQuiRT will be there soon and Wiggy needs to go there. It takes some work to get a model accepted, so someone will have to step up and do the work.

Default We are going to Ohio in August...

We will be there to help celebrate my aunt Mina's 100th birthday.
Seems like a good opportunity to attempt Wiggy's enshrinement
in the AMA museum, over in Muncie, Indiana. We will be driving
our motor home, and are not in a hurry. If all concerned can agree,
We would be pleased to take Wiggy to Muncie. Please advise.
Roger & Judy Grigsby.

Roger,

Send a PM to John (max2112) as he currently has Wiggy. I think he is still in OK and you two would have to work out how to get Wiggy from him to you.

Also, I think we have to apply for a spot in the museum and there's a lot of paperwork to do for it. I don't think you can just show up and drop something off (in case you were not already aware). So it might be a good idea to get that going first.

It would be nice to see Wiggy in the museum as her final resting place.

I was a pilot for the "World Tour Tiger Moth" endeavor and there is paperwork and diplomacy involved in applying to the AMA Museum. "Buzz" over on RCG did the lion's share and could probably provide someone here with good information. He is a great guy and I'm sure he would be more than willing to help out.

Wow,I am somewhat shocked to hear that Wiggy is not yet in the AMA museum. 7 years is a long time for that little plane to be trekking across the globe. I'll never forget the flight I had with her, nor that flake of a newspaper editor who never published the story, or sent me the pictures (It's a small town, the kind of place where the local paper scrounges around for ANYTHING even remotely interesting). A complete history of the project ought to be compiled.
You know what, we could all do that. Say, 20 people, each in charge of summarizing 10 pages. Shoot, why not? Any takers? I'd be happy to put it all together in a PDF.

A good flight often ends with a great crash.
