This is a good move IMHO as now you can just buy without factory module and fit the FrSky system straight of. As I'm looking for another radio - I may just add another 9x to my collection ! At $49.99 it's a lot of radio for small money. Nigel |

Last one I got was moduleless , but I wish I'd paid the extra few dollars to get the module after all.

For an extra $4 you get a 8ch receiver and a Flysky module. It's a pain to move the antenna to the module but you could always just sell the receiver and module and get more than the $4 back.
What I'm waiting for is the Frysky x12 due out "soon". If I wanted to get another 9x I'd wait for the Turnigy 9XR. It has a programmer and backlight built in, an internal Spektrum module, better quality switches, and it takes still takes JR style modules. Supposed to be $50 and out any day. (Though I'm sure they will be perpetually back ordered in typical HK fashion.) |

I did a similar thing. I installed an internal Spektrum module and use Frsky in the module bay on my 9x. Frsky w/telemetry is an excellent system from a price/performance stand point. Combined with the 9x and open source firmware it gives me everything I could want.
However, I moved the antenna to the Flysky module to try out the Flysky receivers and they are actually pretty good. I tested the range on the ground and in the air and couldn't fly it out of range. I think it might be an good system for park flyers and such. The 6 ch receivers are pretty small and inexpensive. |

As I don't need any more FS Modules / Rx's .... I clicked buy it for the barebones + FrSky module / Rx ....
This will be my 2nd 9x .. first is still in perfect working order. What I find interesting is the Telemetry able Tx Module is cheaper than the non-Telemetry Tx Module by a wopping near $20 ! I have no need for Telemetry at moment - but for price - went for it. I know it will bind with all my other 8 and 7ch FrSky Rx's if needed - so no problem. I read somewhere that some people had problems with the 7ch Rx ... I have those as well as the standard 8ch HV ... no problems at all ... and of course it's smaller and lighter. I'm of on assignment next few days .. so by time I get home - Postman will have delivered .... Nigel |

OK ... now I've got it and checked out ...
One point that I noted in HK reviews was a comment about raised plastic moulding on the pins to connect module. This is no problem for the FlySky module which is inset at that area - but the FrSky module is not. Therefore the extra plastic has to be removed. I did it with a soldering iron ... others have dremeled it away. Once done - the 9x is same as any other 9x ... Nigel |
