WATTFEST 2012!!

The event will take place just south of Tampa, Florida on 13 and 14 October 2012. WATTFEST is a flying event open to any electric powered aircraft. You will see some of the most amazing aircraft at this event, from big multi-engine airliners, pre-WW1 aircraft, helicopters, giant EDF jets, Helicopters, gliders, gyrocopters, micro aircraft, orthonocopters, giant scale WW1 aircraft and much more. This is the second year for this popular event and has moved for this year. The event will be held at the beautiful Triple Creek RC Club of Riverview. The field is much larger, faces north ( sun to your back) and overnight camping is allowed. Setup starts on Friday, 12 October. There will be night flying, a MIG drone shoot, lots of prizes and most important of all, lots of flying fun. Check out the following links for more information.

The WATTFEST DAWN PATROL traveled across the state to promote WATTFEST 2012 at the DeLand Florida, Golden Eagles RC club. They were hosting an all-electric event this past Saturday. First, a great group of people, was a fun group to hang out with for an afternoon. Their club field is actually at the end of one of the runways at the Deland airport! How cool is that! The sight and sounds of full sclae aircraft all around us. It was great having the sound of aircraft engines running as they took off and flew in the area. We handed out numerous flyers and exchanged contact information with several people. I am sure we will see some of them at WATTFEST 2012. I hope so, I enjoyed hanging out and flying with them. The club has already posted a video of the event.

ATTENTION WATTFEST ATTENDEES, I am planning a big still and video presentation. Please, you all all with you, bring a camera and video camera. If this is anything like last year, it was a blast and I want to get as much of it captured on film as possible. If every one of us has a camera and makes a point to use it often, we will have some great moments captured to share with others. I will have a computer with me so we can view and share all the images of teh event. Even images of your preparation and trip would be appreciated. My goal is to capture still and video images of every aircraft and every person numerous times. Please help me with this.
