Instructions regarding 2 servos don't relate how to hook up to reciever. I have the spectrum dx6 an a hobby king spectrim reciever. Where do I plug in the 2 servos to get them to operate on elevon setting? aeliron and elevator ports??? ,is my guess, I need someone experienced with this on, for the answer thanks for the insight Flying Dude |

Almost every one of my planes are elevon. I fly JR, but Spektrum is the same. First, set the wing type to Elevon (Delta, Wing, I forgot what it is called on the DX6).
Plug the left side servo into Aileron, plug the right side servo into elevator. If your switches on the radio are set to factory spec, then everything should move in the proper direction right off the bat. If not, then reverse switches or switch the plugs on the RX until it is all correct. Also, when you set the trim on the elevons, "neutral" will have the forward points of the elevons near the bottom edge of the pylon support. I know, it looks like a lot of "up", but trust me that's where you want to start off at, otherwise your handlaunch may wind up nose in the ground in about 20'. Don't ask how I know.

If you're using a DX6i there are reports of the elevon mix not working correctly and errors in the 6i manual. Check your throws for even travel after setting it up. There's a thread on the other site, including a work around, I'll look it up for you if you need it.
I'm on my 2nd EF-16 and the 3rd is in the box in my closet, when I need it. It's a fun plane! |

I'm building the hobby lobby f-16. It's only my second
jet. I just got the micro f-86 and love it. 3 questions. What is v tail mixing mode? With elevons, do you not have ailerons? What is the in flight difference? |

V-tail mixes elevator and rudder.
Elevons mix elevator and aileron. V-tail is used on planes with wings, and use a v-tail in place of the standard vertical and horizontal stabilizers. Elevons can be used on flying wings, delta wings, and like on the F-16, the full flying stabilizers that replace the h-stabs and elevators. More maneuverable I think. |

ihave 1 great flyer stock!! i mix gear to elv. 10% to throw it myself. does't look like much but works good. i can't throw well with left hand. so this way i don't worry about geating on the elv.

Still trying to understand. Guy at LHS said with elevons, no ailerons. can you make elevons work with ailerons too? Doesn't seem like it would roll that well without the ailerons, but that guy said it would. The question is wether or not to cut the ailerons in. F-22, aile and elev can be synced.

My Scratchbuilt SU-37 and F4J Phantom work that way. They share servos. Takes a little "putzin" to get it where it needs to be but works good. The mini Jpowers 50mm F-16 edf works that way as well. Using the elevon setting, I think the key think is to set it up with less mechanical throw on the ailerons than on the elevators.
