Something to keep in mind if your friend still wants to maintain nicads or nimh's.
Many of the new multi chemistry chargers do not do discharging or cycling of nicads and nimhs. They just charge. You would assume that on an all around multi charger that they would all do this, but they dont. Read before you buy. Also, once you pick a charger you like, read all the reviews you can find online about that charger. |

There's quite a few chargers in the 200 watt , 10 amp category. They are usually around $60 for DC powered. I made a couple of nice setup with power supplies that worked well at max power.

Quad... get the "real" Hitec. Cost is so close to the copies that its just not worth getting a lesser quality product. Also Hitec comes with more charging cords.
For most people the X4 (DC only) or X4 Plus (AC/DC) will do just fine 50 watts per port. They have a newer higher power per port also (I think 80 watt per port) These will charge 4 cell 4000 at or very close to 1C rate (1 hour from dead to full) For extreme power look into the Hitec X2 chargers These all will do ALL batter chemistries. Charge, discharge, balance and cycle. If it doesn't have the right settings programmed in at the factory the end user programming can accept any settings (up to the charger's max voltage and current) that you need. |
