I do like the look of the Sabre Jet, just something about it says "Fighter Jet" to me. I can remember back when I was still in grade school drawing pictures of these old first gen fighter jets.......always liked that sinister looking open nose too!! ![]() I am using a different method with this build in that I already have a wing for it designed and flown many times with great success.......it's a blue foam flying wing When I was building the wing, I noticed something looked very familiar about it's shape, the sweep was triggering an image of an F-86 in my mind (that was back in March....I can repress the thoughts no longer! ) so I recently set about making a plan to build an F-86 fuse to go with that wing. The plane will be a pusher jet, wing span of approx 32in, length of 31in and will have just elevon controls like the wing to start but may do a flying tail when the build comes to that stage ![]() I have no way to scale up the pics I have, so I ended up drawing the fuse profile freehand this evening on three 8.5x11 cardstock taped together. The fuse will be built with a much proven method of using 2in blue foam forward monobloc in a 6mm Depron box style that I have been using with great success lately. NOW since I drew the fuse and am using a slightly different shaped wing than the orig, it may not be exactly "scale" but I am excited to get started and get MY Sabre together. As far as power trains go I am starting with the same setup I have been running in the wing.....Suppo 2208 1800kv with APC 6x5.5 prop, Rhino 1750mah 3s and have been good for approx 70-80mph.....not too bad for a $8 motor ![]() HOPING for a sub-20oz auw but we'll see...I tend to overbuild and pay for the extra pork in lower speed and runtimes --Ray |

Sounds like a plan Ray!
One thing you can do to get a larger profile drawing is to take you 3-view to FedEx/Kinko's or ScottBlue or some other printing shop, and just have them blow it up. Costs about $5-10. |

Thanks Al, but I have quite a bit still from the last "raid"..
![]() Got some work done on the fuse tonight. I am thinking of doing a flying tail on this one, the later D models had it ![]() I need to get started on building the wing for it as I now need the actual shape of the airfoil to then cut the wing saddle. ![]() --Ray |
