Battery compatible?

I rec'd my blade scout-rtf-3-ch-heli-today and the xmtr uses AA batteries, not rechargeable type, and I'm wondering if I can use
Rechargeable batteries in the xmtr...?? I have some AA 1.2v 2100mah NIMH batts...the AA that came with xmtr say AA q.t Merc/Cadmium...
Is it safe to use the rechargeable?? Would save me some bucks in
replacing the standard AA's....

Likely no problem. Alkaline start out at 1.5v and have a linear drop as they discharge.
Most better TX use NiMh rechargeables. Those start out about 1.4v freshly charged, drop pretty fast to 1.3v, and stabilize out a long time @ 1.2v. They are about dead at 1.0v. When they near that level they drop FAST, so don't let them get to close to that. If the TX has a low battery warning level pay attention to it.
Since they are NiMh it won't hurt to recharge on a regular basis to be safe.

Thanks...I've had these batt's awhile, but recharge them fairly often,
so they ought to be in good shape..and will keep an eye on the low
batt lite...

The best of those kind of batteries is the Sony Eneloops. They don't self-discharge like the older variety.

Should not be a problem. Might be a good idea to range check your system, both with brand new AA Alkaline cells and Nih cells to see if any difference shows up.

If no difference, you are good to go.

There is no low voltage warning on the TX plus the TX batteries are also the charge power. You need to take that into account with use.

I use a similar unit on my heli but not for charging. It does fine with NiMh. It is NOT a long distance TX and it's a tiny heli anyway. Not sure if there is a 'range test' option available. As long as the batteries are decent, it'll be fine.

The xmtr has a "beep" alarm that goes off while flying if tx batt's are
low on charge, also it sez if flight batt takes long to charge than 30 mins
to replace tx batt's....will keep an ear/eye out on them...

The little Blade Scout uses the transmitter battery to charge the
flight or heli battery.

It would be nice if it were even that simple. Companies realized years back they can fire the engineering and R&D Dept. and bulk up Marketing. They invent specs and print bogus info. There are NiMh AA out there claiming to be 3000mA. They are complete crap. Most of them at 2500mA and higher are very suspect. Same is true in 18650's and a whole host of other batteries.

Last year I caught a club member flying his model with a 2700 Mah Nih battery pack, bought on the cheap. He was lucky to have not lost the model, since I tested that battery pack with the servo load his model put on that battery pack. The voltage dipped to 3.6 Volts DC when all servos were moved back and forth. (That was measured with my $350 Fluke 87V digital meter with its one millisecond response time min/max voltage reading capability)

Oh, forgot to mention, the model was a multi-thousand dollar wet turbine model.

He, along with many other club members are now using either the LiFe or A123 batteries as receiver power. Those type cells can easily handle the worst peak current levels any resonable receiver/servos can pull. In fact, the 2300 Mah A123 cells will burn up the servo wires before their voltage drops below safe levels.
