I am building the plane as a DIY so it is going to take me a long time to make the parts and build with them , this is the first time I am doing a sailplane by scratch ! I must have bumped my head multiple times excessively hard - I found out I can still get the kit for the plane -Dha ? Wish me luck and send lots of asprin please !! George |

Hi All,
At the time of writing this, I am / was about 60% into the build of a Polaris (Steve Shumate plans). I did the most stupid thing, I glued the spars into the foam and went to the shed to clean off the excess with glue with methylated spirits.......... I pick up the wrong bottle........ turpintine! I was absolutely gutted as the foam just melted away. Back to the cutting board tonight..........what an idiot! Regards Ian |

Chellie Thank you for that info Mam !!!!
I am already making parts by copying the plan by hand on my lite table so I can cut them out useing the copy made on copying paper -the old onion skin paper -if you heard that name you give away your age ?! So I will do this plane that way and then try to find the kit later on , I plan to make 4 other copies of this bird for family members so I will have a lot of time to to put in on the builds -hopefully this will keep me out of trouble for a while ?!! P-n-B Sorry to hear that guy ! But M.C is right about we all do that at least once ,I used the wrong cyno on a small clg a few squars back and watched it dissapear in a blob of melted foam as I was in shock and could not move -I forgot that water would stop the reaction if I would have dumped some on it quick . I was watching a friend walk out to the runway carrying his plane by the top with a big four cycle motor in it . I had just walked up or i would have carryed it for him. The motor started to cough(to rich ) so he lifted the transmitter to his mouth and tryed to bump the throttle up a little ,but he has a big space between his teeth and the stick got stuck between his teeth and it went to full throttle while he was trying to get it out going around and around out on the middle of the paved runway.lmao I ran out and got ahold of the tail while he was still spinning around and then i pulled off the fuel hose off to the carb and it died while he was still trying to get the stick out of his teeth. It scared me at first but after he got the stick out and everything was fine we both busted up laughing .

Whats worse is its a 3-d plane and the G forces might take its toll .lmao Nice plane crash ,have you flown it yet ? joe

Did the maiden of the Sportster this morning and she flew great.
I didn't do anything too dangerous but i got her all adjusted up and did some loops and rolls. The landing was in the snow covered driveway and she nosed over and loosened the engine mount but no biggie. It is all ready to go again tomorrow morning. Crash |
