How did these work for you? I am looking for some way to add smoke to my park flyer planes.
Without a muffler for heat, the smoke liquid is out of the question. Or is it? All input is highly appreciated. |

I got several colors of the HL smokers. Put it on the bottom of a Lil Rascal (hanging down and aft) and burned a hole in the Monokote and scorched the balsa a bit. Easily fixed but disturbing at the time! The Purple is awesome! Dense, colorful and shows up whether blue or grey sky!

Hi I am working on an electric smoke system that will give similar results to a conventional gas/ic smoke system. I have tested a system that will run off a 2s 1800 mAh lipo it did give off a great smoke stream using normal smoke oil. I need to develop the unit into a convenient size package that will be suitable for mid to large size electric models. Stay tuned I will have this system up and running within the next few months.

I used the RCsmoke system for the last 12 months and they work great. I have a remote ignition system set off on the retracts channel to simulate being hit by flak
Can't say too much more, as I am on my lunch break, but I'll get back to you in the next day or so

Check it out, no pump, needle valve, pressure feed or shut off valve required it draws the required amount of fuel through 2 burners. I have just set up using 3 burners it does give more smoke but does run a bit hotter runs of 11.1 lipo from 1000mAh up.
Demo is the 2 burner using an 11.1v 2200mAh will run continuously until the battery loses power or the fuel runs out, I did run this unit for at least 15 mins the case only got warm and there were no issues. Will be operated using a mini servo on a micro switch to turn on and off. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=...type=3&theater |

Do you think when on a plane it will need a fan? A smoother airflow will leave a denser (but thinner) column of smoke. Maybe a venturi sticking out the side of the fuse. |

The first tests were with no fan and the unit did catch on fire? (ground run) the issue is the heat with no air flow. I will set it up on a model and try both as I am aware of natural air flow and obviously...you would not run it on the ground but you know what people are like?
Thanks for your input I am open to any suggestions. Cheers Barry |

A good test of drawing the air into a tube or venturi might be to place the unit at the front end of a clear plastic pipe, and the fan down at the other end.
Temperature regulation might be necessary, maybe only a simple temp snap-switch like they use to protect electric heaters would do it. Like these, many appliances use the ones that are about the size of a thumbnail.
