Your both lucky love to watch those planes fly around.
Joe I would be putting down my tools and taking a coffee break just so I don't miss any of the flying.
What tools ,lmao iam the big chief on the job sites and i never got anything done when i seen anything flying over my subdivisions. When i was a young carpenter i was building a home in weaton il in a open field and i seen a low flying jet comming towards us. I seen a red star on its tail and wings and i could not belive that i was looking at a mig flying by us. joe
Well got out Sat for some flying great weather wind was calm and sunny skies. Did the same today except it was blowing around 12 to 15 at times changing direction constantly. still it was warm for this time of year. Mon. is suppose to be hitting 70 with wind might get out again have to see what the wife wants to do first. Gotta keep momma happy.
Awesome weather today. Crystal blue skies, 72 degrees, zero wind. Burnt through 10 batteries. Changed my sunglasses to brown tint, never seen my planes so good. Not one ding on anything. Awesome!!!! Now need to find a airframe for a DLE 30 I have. Thinking a large stick type.
About 4 this afternoon, sunny, temperature about 55, wind less than 2 mph. Got 5 flights in across the street at the park. Trouble is, with EST, it starts getting too dark to see well a little after 5.
we had the same weather as you gramps, and thursday was all about family and friends. today i made 2 trips to homedepot for lumber to build a genni shed. started it and hope to have it painted and shingled by sunday.
i may be in for a shock that ems shipping from hk with a tx 2.4 module is in the post office already! they shipped it on the 19th from china and i haven't ordered anthing else so i hope it's the module....the next 2 days are going to be to windy to fly. [shed may get finished afterall]
narrow is the place to land...wide is the space to crash....choose the narrow way!
Got out again this morning with the SF and had a ball running it on the snow and then taking off and flying for a bit then land and run some more.
The yard is all full of tracks now from the SF
We did not get a lot of snow but just enough for some ROG's
Keep um Flyin guy's
Got to go out yesterday before it got dark. It was fairly cold and about 10-15 mph winds according to noaa.gov. Tried my new battery, and ran one of my old ones also. Had my closest call with a crash yet. Was coming in for a landing and looked down at my radio (dunno why though?!) and when I looked up I was coming in hot at about a 50 degree angle. Throttled up and yanked the stick all the way back and nearly skimmed the grass haha. Wayyyy too windy though. Interesting anyways.
Too windy, but I was jonesing and went out anyways. Added a new plastic landing gear mount my dad drew up and built for me today. Its not going to break or come apart no matter what I. Don't think.
Basic setup for my slow stick.
Heads up rc power up slow fly 450 motor
40 amp esc
2 cheapie servo's.
2200mah eflight 3 cell
Radical rc biplane wing mount
Knock off spectrum park flyer receiver
10X5 apc prop, airframe only supports a top speed of about 25-30mph on this setup.
10mm carbon fiber rod, about 48" in length, stock joiner and tail section with a bit of bracing taped on.
Its a real floater, like unreal. The pitchup under throttle is rediculous now, and the plane doesn't turn when its not tail heavy. I guess adding the top wing completely flat wouldn't help much, but I did plan on adding aleroins later on. Not sure how I will go about it now though, don't really want 4 more servo's and don't really want to brace the wings to add a ball and link setup. I'm guessing the flying weight to be in the 24oz range, but I'll bet I could add a pound of weight to it and still not ruin the slow flying characteristics.
The wind really was about too much. I need to either add or modify another rudder. Been thinking about making the bottom of the wings flat. We had a constant 15-20mph wind. Enough I could barely make and headway, but I love flying this thing to death and was just jonesing to get out today.
Yes sir, really fun to fly, but wind is really the enemy.
You just thought you had a slow stick until you get a bipe kit. Slow walking speed passes are so fun, especially tail heavy and high alpha.
To be honest, it made it much less fun to fly, but I firmly believe I could take off and land in a parking spot all day, any day of the week. Wind effects it so much more that its less fun when windy, but much more for slow flying and touch and goes when its not. I don't think adding length to the fuse has hurt it at all, it will outside loop still, but about stops when it does.
I am using my origional wing on the bottom, and a newer one on the top. I plan on modding it much more when I get bored. I am going to convert it back to trike gear. Right now I have a rear steer wheel, but the fuse is too long to make good use of it, even at a 90 degree angle.
