Engines/improvements or substitutes for kit

Hi,

I am after recommendations for replacement parts for this kit, specifically:

Engines recommended:

Twin electric (2x) Multiplex 700BB Ferrites - seem to be out of production
with Multiplex 3:1 Gearboxes

12" x 8" Master electric propellers

Battery recommended:
14x 2000mAh cells

To date I haven't had much luck and I am finding the differing engine size systems confusing.

I would appreciate some idea of what I can use to substitute for these - informative help sites or any other advice.

Probably outrunners but very new to this

Brushless motors in the 25 to 32 size would be where I would start looking. For a battery use a lipo with 4, 5 or 6 cells. More cells equal less amps for the same watts. What is the flying weight? with a plane like that to build I would use MotoCalc and work out the system with the most efficiency.

I must say, there are some very nice kits at the site you provided. High quality. What was the flying weight for this plane? You'll have an endless list of sources for motors including HK and Leaders Hobby.

Thanks guys - I have been to a lot of sites but I am just a little insure of myself at this stage. I will keep looking around and have a good look in the brushless 25/32 size. Weight unknown at the moment as they are still sourcing the plywood.

Dad flew Beauforts in the Pacific during WWII so I am very keen to get this one right :-)

Something like this seems about right to spin 12x8's on 4s... you probably only need around 300W per motor.... but some to spare is always good. If you come in at 4lb, 150W/lb should be more than enough.
