HELP ! 70mm EDF motor for 5S

I am really in need of a budget EDF motor, around 2800 - 3000kv, for 70mm fan unit capable of taking 5S .... max diameter of motor 28mm as in usual 70mm use. (USA sellers are usually a no-no for international so it needs to be International based).

I've only seen motors rated for 4S and as I look further - the price gets higher than the models worth !

Suggestions ?

24 likesValue Quality Like it?Test on 3000mah 5s, turnigy 85a esc- 1150w. 60a, 1350g thrust, in durafly vampire, weight of model is 1500g Sounds great came well ballanced. but i think i will have to use 6s, I will post test data on 6s soon

105 likesValue Quality Like it?as normal a lander fans great power and smoothness ,just a quick run up with meter put 1774w at 24volt 77 amps, the wires got a little warm for my liking so ill probably solder direct to the fan wires when installed . it sounded great with no vibration could not test thrust but felt good this is going in my jiperjet. ho boy

1 likesValue Quality Like it?this DPS fan has a motor w/2200KV it seems like they have a newer one w/ a motor w/3000KV..less total wattage output on the other DPS edf, i wish the front lip was removable for the ducting im using in my SU 35/37 from savagelight.com..im thinking of cutting the lip off so i can use it or use the wemo that it was made for. I'm thinking of trying to use the 10 blade in a wemo housing but I'm not all that versed in how to figure thrust output etc..but as far as the unit itself it looks very well manufactured just hope its balanced like they said which i dont know about..when i know more ill post

Chellie .. Yes - I like the Lander etc. - but lets be honest the model was a freebie and doesn't exactly look concourse ! so price is a bit OTT !

Pity about the old motor because it's a strong motor but only 4S ... maybe I can use it somewhere else ...

Yeah, I'm guilty of putting $65 & $100 edf's in a couple of my $80 and $65 jets. But man! Are they fun! And I'm hoping they will survive the crash to go into new models. I have a $35 Phase3 EF-16 waiting on the shelf for the crash!

Well - I ordered the 2836 Turnigy ... and I see that the motor has a 4mm shaft reduced to 3.17mm ... so I shall punch out the old shaft - replace with the 4mm 2839 shaft in the F16 which fits the rotor.

Hopefully this shall sort out the machine and have her flying again.

I love the Phase 3 F-16. Probably the smoothest flier in my edf squadron though the JPowers Katana is a close second and has a rudder. The only negative is the beer foam. Love when it goes on sale at Hobby People. The kit version dropped to $29.00 last week and ARF to $79.00

Yeah, I saw a sale on the EF-16 kit and couldn't pass it up. For that price, I thought I'll grab one and put it on the shelf and one day I can see what everyone is raving about. Maybe it was one of the $29 sales. Senioritis kicking in early! The only thing is, I love my takeoffs and especially landings. So I'll miss the landing gear. And the other thing I miss on those 2 edf's I'm refferring to is a rudder. I find myself inputting rudder on the stick to straighten the turns, then realize it's not there. And they could both do some great high-alpha stuff, but tend to drift without that rudder control, the F-35 more than the Skyray.

Looked on site and all I found were HET fans ...

Anyway - the Turnigy 2836 EDF motor is on it's way now ... may not be the best or most efficient motor - but as long as it takes 5S and gets that 16 flying - I don't care !
