Very nice place indeed. Water is like glass. Actually, it's better to have a slight ripple to help break the friction.
Your place reminds me of the Logging show on the the History channel where they feature the guy and his dog looking for vintage logs in the bayou. Have you tried using Corrosion X ? It will save your esc and rx.
I built a Convair Sea Dart that was great on water and land. The Polaris is very nice also which you can get in ARF form.
those are the same floats I have and they about burned out my motor and esc on my first cub so I built a second one for the floats and put in a whole new system -Tx ,
Lipo , ESC, and Outruner power train to handle the floats and then havent made it to
putting on the floats yet ?
Getting slow in my old age I guess ?
The company has paid for and sent all 5... I would not have paid for my 2nd. Also, when the lipo caught fire and burned the 1st Cub, they sent me a new one minus the floats. So all in all, I think the company has done well..
Oh yes, really good customer service.....crappy electrics. You would think they would learn. The problem with the floats is well known. The system was never designed for that power. Getting a successful system is mostly a matter of luck.
so I am not looking for fast and furious.
No need. You can power it about the same pretty easily, maybe a tad more Throttle control is as far as your thumb.

I have built the Dynam PBY... worst assembly I have ever seen. Have not got the motors to sync up and work correctly.
Told you Dynam products had problems, at least the 4 I've dealt with. Decent foam, worse electrics than Parkzone trainers IMO.

If you're going to learn to fly them, you have to learn to fix them.
I am over my $ limit for the next few weeks so I have to wait for a while befor I can even think about spending money on more plane stuff .

I just finished converting my stock HZ Super Cub to Brushless after a crash that broke the stock motor mount. I put in a set up from Heads up. a Emax BL2220/07 motor and 9x4.5 prop, a HURC 30amp ESC, a OrangeRx Receiver with satelite receiver and a 3s 2200 lipo. Still using the stock servos. but the stock plane C.G was 2.125" from the leading edge of the wing. Now its nose heavy at 2.125" it balances at 1.90625" from the leading edge of the wing. will it hurt to fly the HZ Super Cub being this nose heavy?
May make it hard to control especialy trying to trim the plane does not have a lot of clearance if you have not removed some of the foam around the controlhorns ,
not a lot but a little for each one on the outside of the horn if you put them inside
the servo post they may catch each other and jamup thats what happened with
the one I upgraded so I can put my floats on it !!
Oh I just remembered I replaced the servos with ones that were a little bit biger !!
The only thing I would say is the old smaller ones may not last very long they
are not set up for heaver curent !
I would recomend High Tech 55 servos for the rudder and elevator !!

Dynam PBY is a piece of garbage~ got all servos working, etc.. and did a water taxi test today... one engine full throttle, the other stutters... and the customer service is poor to say the least. Staying with Hobbyzone. Keep away from Dynam PBY at all costs!
You might try different controlls in the bird and I don't have verry good luck with HZ ESCs or RX I have more luck with GWS RXs or HighTeck stuff and Futoba TX-RX
systems -just my experience with my old and new stuff !

It's actually Anti-Crash Technology. It gets a lot of bad lip service but it actually works in a limited fashion. All it is really capable of doing is pulling out of a steep dive or leveling out of a steep climb and it only works well with a blue sky above and dark ground below.
ACT works by using sensors looking at the ground and horizon. It differentiates shade (dark ground/light sky) and tries to keep them that way. If the plane goes up or down too fast and the shade isn't right it 'takes control' AWAY from you and essentially neutralizes the controls. You can achieve the SAME result just by letting go of the sticks. Of course new pilots don't they just over correct some more. The high wing Cub will self correct in time but not immediately.
If ACT kicks in up high, no problem, but then letting go of the sticks would work also. If it happens down low you have NO ABILITY TO CORRECT SINCE CONTROL IS REMOVED! Just like letting go of the sticks once you pointed it straight at the ground from 20 feet up it's going in! Its not useful down low and wrecks more planes than it saves, but it sure sounds good to new fliers. Since they can't fly anyway and they wreck anyway they figure it would only have been worse without it. They can't differentiate between their short comings and ACT's problems.
So it works up high where you don't really benefit from it and screws you up down low when it doesn't help. It also gets totally confused when you fly over water, snow or very light ground surfaces (light concrete, sand) since it doesn't know what to do with that. It's NOT SMART, it's just a shade sensor. What it does best is lure in new fliers. Great marketing scheme.

I agree with you FlyDiver -I baught the HZ SC because I like the Cub type planes
and not for the ACT system but I forgot to unplug the darn cable on the first trip
out and it cut me off and broke a prop when I could not land the plane with out
control and it went in knose first with the motor going at 3/4 throtal and
took off one of the blades and made the motor lose .
I learned the hard way to disconect the darn thing !!
On my Spektrum DX6i, I disable the ACT on my HZ Super Cub by setting the "Gear" switch to the "1" position. Works great. Without it set that way, the motor on my SC would cut out whenever I did a loop. I never had any issues that would cause me to crash my SC. In fact, I have never crashed my SC because of the ACT. Hmmm, come to think of it, I have never crashed my Super Cub.
The just remove the plug on the RX is the best idea unless you want to remove the sencers to lose the extra wait on the plane with the brushed motor !
I removed those and the drop cable /and carrier on the bottom as I don't intend to
drop any thing from my planes .
Hey Guys, new to the Forum and to flying RC, Love my Super Cub and been flying it for just over a month now, but yeah first thing to do is get rid of ACT, i was flying mine in a little wind and it was loosing control pretty bad, luckily i managed to land it, a little rough but in one piece, disconnected it and never looked back, can actually fly inverted for a short time, loops, stalls, low flying, precision landing i.e cricket pitch, lol, etc etc, absolutely love it, next will be the Aileron upgrade, i am using the DX4 but will be looking at upgrading to either the DX6 or DX8, thinking future use...
Anyways great starter plane but word of advice, practice on a Sim before going to crazy its helped me so much, been flying just over a month and touch wood haven't had to replace anything.
