All the pieces (I hope) arrived today. Now I've just got to put them together. Unfortunately, that's the part I really suck at.

Well, I'm test fitting my parts and I've already run into a minor problem. The inside of my TM looks nothing like the photos in the manual. This looks like it might be the servo bay (or one of two? servo bays). Is this where they're supposed to go?

Nice plane.
What a blast from the past. I did finish that Moth and it's still flying today. Only 2+ years, though, not 6. Yet. ![]() In fact, I have three Moths and am currently building another TM 400.

I started to build one last week, I bought a slope model also so this build is sort of a test build for that kit. I'm using the stock motor on 3s and will see how that works. I'm also doing all off the recommended mods that I've found on the many post of this plane. The slope kit will be brushless with 4 ailerons.

Thanks Max, I had those tires in my parts box and just thought I'd see how they look on it. I doubt if I will use them as they weigh about an ounce apiece. I was going to put them on my HZ super cub until I weighed them.

Here's what it's going to look like. I still have a few odds and ends to finish off but should be ready to fly tomorrow. 16.5 oz with out the battery.

Posted on that other board...
![]() How NOT to fly your Tiger Moth. I think I've gotten it nose-heavy now. It's clearly not sorted but I was still toying around with stall speed at low altitude ... with predictable results. I was actually proud of that first save. If only I'd learned my lesson ... ![]()

OMG....sorry to see that!! Did you prevent it from getting worst? or did she stop melting on her own. Are you going to just replace the fuse? or is it total loss?

The esc smoked itself and started the fire after a prop strike while landing. I was able to blow out the fire but it pretty much trashed the front of the fuse. I priced the fuse sides and with shipping I figured I'd just buy another slope kit. I have one already and will start working on it tomorrow. I think i'm going to replace the GWS motor with a Himax brushless gear drive system. I'll just use what's left as spare parts.

I use a 2712-30 HURC motor in my tiger. It flies really nice with it. Plenty of power, I would suggest putting flying wires on her with the motor switch. I use a 350ma 2cell....balance is nice! Good luck on your new build!

I have a 2712-30 HURC motor in my Mini Super cub. I had to put struts under the wing because I kept folding them up doing loops. I have a 400 slowfly motor I might put in my next build but i'm still looking for different options.

That's better, though it still seems really light for a 400-size plane. I run a 2712-17 on my Pico.

Yes, its in my Pico moth. I also use it in a GWS Beaver, 200 series SE5, N17, D-VII and a Sopwith Pup. Powers them all fine! I like the fact that I can fly them at what I call scale like speed.
