Added elevator control this rudder only plane. Used the optional foam wing, so no ailerons on this one. Left the LG off to save weight and club field is grass |

I'm sure it's been said already, but does anyone have a recommended setup for a PZ T28 from headsuprc?

Send them an email. I know they have replacement motors as well as upgraded more powerful ones that will fit. You will get a quick reply.

Comes with a 960kv 480 motor. I would try a firepower 480 sport. Not sure how the motor mount lines up though.

Before you buy it, make sure you can fit the prop okay. The speed motor can use a smaller prop because of its higher kv rating.

Thats my fault on not saying email them, not buy that particular motor. They recommend the Power Up 15 with the aluminum mount or the Emax BL2820/07. Both look like good performers.

Old Formosa (shown), stock build:
-PowerUp 400 Sport -PowerUp 20 ESC -PowerUp 1500 Lipos -GWS 9x5HD prop Great flyer, lost in crash (my fault). New Formosa (not shown) w/ in-wing aileron servos, rudder & elev servos moved to tail: -PowerUp 400 Zoom -HURC 40 ESC -Emax ES08A servos (4) -PowerUp 2200 lipos -APC 6x4 prop Only two weeks old, but an even better flyer than the old one, much faster, great vertical, very responsive, blindingly fast roll rate, still a nice slow landing speed. Corsair w/ in-wing aileron servos: -FirePower 400 Sport (2830-11) -PowerUp 20 ESC -Emax ES08A servos (4) -PowerUp 1500 or 1800 Lipos -GWS 8x6 prop Another good flyer, fast and agile, I gave it a freelance air racer look rather than a military scheme. |

Aerodrome RC Jenny:
-Emax CF2822 -PowerUp 20 ESC -2 Emax ES08A servos (rudder and elev) -2 iFlight IS300 servos (ailerons) -PowerUp 2S 1350 or 3s 1500 Lipo -GWS 8x4 prop This was an nice short kit and a fun build that produced a good flying model. It's more realistically underpowerd with 2S, but funner to fly on 3S. Markings are modeled after one the original six US Airmail Jennys. Top Flite Elder 20 -FirePower 10 Sport (3536-10) -PowerUP 40 ESC -2 Emax ES08A servos (rudder & elev control only) -PowerUp 2200 Lipo -TP 10x5 prop I built this one over 25 years ago with an Irvine 20 glow motor, but never got to fly it. Recently resurrected with electric running gear and finally maidened it. Covering is the original Monokote. It flew well, lands at a slow walk, but the rudder is a little small for good two channel control, so when I catch up on other projects I plan to add ailerons. |

I put a 2820/07 motor in my Parkzone T-28. This is one strong and heavy motor. I actually took it out and put in a 2815/09. If you decide to go with the 2820/07, I would strengthen the wing. Also be prepared to do some modifications to the battery compartment to get the correct COG. When I flew the 28 with the 2820/07, the wings would wobble at higher speeds, and the wings would really flex in the turns and pulling out of a dive. I am quite certain that you could actually "Fly the Wings Off" with the 2820/07. Even stepping down one motor size, it has more power than the plane can handle...unless, of course, you do some mods to strengthen the wings and maybe some stronger magnets for the canopy.

Here's a Value Hobby .25 size "Aviator" trainer, I bought and set up for a newbie. He's not unfamiliar with RC stuff, just new to flying.
Heads Up RC Set Up: Power Up 25 Sport HURC 50 Amp ESC 11.1v 3300-4200Mah Lipo 12X6 Prop (the picture shows it with a 10X7...just a goof on my part for the photo) This set up was recommended by Jesse. Jeff and Jesse have been spot on with all my electric questions. I always set up an electric plane with Heads Up RC products, after I consult with them. They have always been right on with their recommendations, no matter what the style of flying. The servos are Futaba S3003 (one on Elevator, and one on each aileron). And, the Rudder/Nose Wheel share a JR DS821. I used those servos because I had them laying around. The radio is an older 72Mhz Hitec, but it works just fine. I can tell you that the plane flies really well. The wing has a fair amount of dihedral (a little less than most trainers), and an almost asymmetrical air foil. But, the kicker is that the wing is way thinner than most trainers I have seen. What does all of this mean? It means this thing flies like a trainer, but with more ease of advancing into inverted flight, knife edges and even rolling circles (not the 3d style, it's not set up for that). Yep, tested all of that myself. The down side, I'm guessing because of the thin wing, is that it has a high sink rate when landing or reduced power. Not the best for a trainer, but the newbie is an extremely fast study so I think he'll be ok. I do want to give a special thank you to Chellie, who introduced me to Heads Up RC about 3 years...when I first started into this AWESOME hobby! Thank You CHELLIE! |

Chellie - I couldn't agree more! Many of the folks I fly with are either already flying electric or slowly converting, but it is funny how I can't seem to convince most of them that the quality of products & great service that they could get from HURC is worth paying just a little more. So they keep on buying from HK sources that will go un-named even when they agree that they get no help, service, support or warranty acceptance of any kind. Then on the other hand I know a couple of guys that will only fly with the most expensive products available, & can't believe they could get just as good from HURC. But I have been able to get a few to try Jeff & they are obviously very pleased. How could you not be!

I have a total of 27 aircraft from FFF profile fighters to super cub LP style planes. most are foam but a couple are balsa. with 90% of the electronics fron Jeff. I fly with him at our local club and he is an all around great guy. very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to get what we need for these birds.
Just got the 450zoom motor and I have it on a profile mig29 with a 29 inch WS it weighs around 20 oz with a 3s 1300mah battery and a 6x5.5apc on it and it screams. it is completely powered by HURC stuff other than the RX. Love this bird... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c32wNO2_rLE |
