I know exactly what you mean. Don't let these grumpy old men make ya feel bad.
The good news is, when you're ready to try your first ARF, you'll get all the help you need here. Reading through my first ARF 'build' thread, I'm stunned at how clueless I was as I stumbled through the process, but no one ever did anything but offer help.
Some of us old guys (builders) just want him to know there are other choices than running out and paying 80 bucks for a plane. If he buys a arf thats fine but after a while of him flying and repairing them soon a arf just wont be enough and there are 100 or thousands of free plans to build his own. It amazes me somtimes when a new guy askes online about a new 3-D plane all he is offerd is a hole mess of chineese junk instead of some easy to build plans. joe
I stumbled upon an eFlite 4 site and though what the heck I'll give it a try. I quickly realized that I'm not ready for 3d! It went well for a little while but ended in disaster...I'll try to put it back together but not to sure it will fly again.
I haven't built mine either. Been on other projects. Says it's depron but I don't think so. Maybe a Chinese version of Dollar Tree ? Clearly not 6mm. Actually, Chellie turned me on to these. Was hoping to find a build log somewhere but they do look pretty straightforward. as thinking I's try the Christen Eagle first.
Let me know how they work out . I have a 1300kv BL in waiting.
This is another problem area I plan to correct, I'm using a DX5e on lo rate....I'm stepping up to a Dx6i before I buy anything else!

I would have to agree! It was going pretty good for a while but after a couple of what I thought were rough landings the frame is pretty much bent in half right behind the wings. The foam is so thin I'm not sure if I can fix it, I plan on using a thicker foam to give it strength
