With the holidays upon us I'd like to share a personal story about drinking and driving and consequences. All of us, I'm sure, have ridden after having had one too many at some time. Most of us have been fortunate that the Lord was with us and we arrived home safely. Last night I had a couple beers more than "my limit." Thinking about all that was at risk to myself and others, I did something I've never done before. I took a cab home. Sure enough there was a police DUI checkpoint on the way. Seeing that it was a cab, they waved it through. I shudder to think what would have happened if I had been on my motorcycle. I arrived home safely. Of course, after I woke up, it took me a while to remember why there was a cab in my driveway. I've hidden it in the garage until I figure out what I'm going to do with it. So, let this be a lesson. |

Do not Judge, or you too will be Judged. For in the same way you Judge others, you will be Judged, and with the same measure you use, it will be measured to You.

your story twigged an old memory as I read it. Many years back some flatmates friends bought around some illegal smoking substance that the Australian government frowns upon (because they can't tax it
) After a few beers and generous puffs of this stuff, I remembered I had to go into town to meet someone, and wobbled off to climb on my bike. I put my key in the ignition, and no lights, nothing, not even after turning it a number of times. The starter would not work, and the whole thing seemed dead. "Flat battery" obviously, and off I walked into town, where I promptly ended up in the nearest pub, and then woke up the next day, at a mates place. He gave me a lift home, and on the front lawn, sat my bike where I had left it. The ignition key was sitting in the fuel cap from the previous day, where I had put it, turning it half a dozen times before giving up![]() . Needless to say, it was a good thing it happened, because I dread to think what might have happened if I had ridden .
