Billy, we flew there yesterday but, around 9:30 it began to rain so everyone packed it in. Hopefully I will see you there soon. I plan on flying on the 26th in the AM since I am off work that day. Then we will probably all fly on the 29th and 30th.

OK Chuck thanks, I will come over on "boxing day" as we call the 26th Dec... :-) I will bring my T-28 but after my visit on saturday I'm now planning on buying a slightly larger "floater" a.s.a.p. which will be better for me to fly in company and over concrete - as you guys do when together in O-side... Billy, it rained yesterday so we didn't fly. Do you have a black or blue SUV? I thought I might have seen you driving up about 9:30 yesterday, but I left because of the wind and the wet conditions. Well Guys,

Stay tuned for some neat Progress I have made from the terrible crash my AirForce Trojan suffered last weekend. I finally got all the parts and looked in my various hobby drawers and found a new Castle Creations PHX 35-AMP ESC and new Park Zone 480 Brushless motor and most importantly a new Castle Creations BERG 4-Channel DSP Receiver.

There is a great way to improve the slowing down of the T-28: Earlier in March, I installed a Spectrum AR6200 receiver in my T-28 to use my DX7 radio instead of the ZX10. This mod allowed the use of flapperons and therefore you can use the ailerons as flaps in the down position to float even more or in the up position to use as air brakes. I have been flying my plane all summer over the lake and using a very small grass area to land in between trees Scary but cool. The use of the flapperons was critical there to get the proper approch: to short and it falls in water, to long and the landing is rough in bushes. I don't use the landing gear. If you ever get a DX6 or DX7, try that as it realy improves the control on approch.
The other advantage of the DX7 is the programmable dual rate for the aileron. With 120% aileron, snap rolls are relatively easy.


Now, about the crash on Sunday: I was showing off to my friend how cool it was doing 3 snap rools back to back when thhe plane is coming towards us when I screwed up close to the ground, 30 feet away from us (yes coming strait toward us) and pushed it down to the ground instead of up . The crash was awful with a terrible noice. The front of the plane is totalled....

The good thing is that I found and bought Sunday night on e-bay a huge lot of defective Parkzone T-28 airplanes for sale by Hobb-e-mart (horizon hobby e-bay store for defective merchandise). This was a huge lot of 5 fuselages, 4 wings, 4 radios, 2 batteries, motors, esc, servos, wheels, etc... It was a good deal considering that for $306 I am hoping to be able to put together 3 new planes, fix my "old" one and keep a few spare parts. I plan on spitting the lot with my friend so we can all fly T-28 fly with our sons. I will probably repaint one or two planes to avoid having 4 identical planes in the air.

Love my T28 ! Just converted her to a tail dragger. Better off grass, no breaking the nose gear anymore and larger prop clearance. Post pic when I get back

Mattman,

You'll be fine. I've had mine for 2 years now and she's taken alot of abuse. Pretty tough ole gal. I now use it to experiment. Upped the power with a HURC 450, running 4S, trying 3 axis stabalizer for high wind days. She's rockin now.

Might want to include some expo to smooth out the control surface throws. I started out with 40 aileron, 30 elevator and 20 rudder but you may not need that much.

Set your dual rates and fly on low rates at first. I have mine setup with 60% aileron and elevator and 100% rudder. It tames her down a bit.

Hi guys!

Several days ago my beloved Park Zone T-28D Airforce crashed due to the rush to fly itch and well you can see for yourselves the results:

Now, fast forward we have a very successful repair results and a few items to note that the Nose Wheel Steering arm had to be replaced, the motor mount, Motor, ESC and of course the Receiver. My personal taste was to go back to the solid and less sophisticated yet very solid 72-Mhz Castle Creations BERG 4-Channel DSP receiver. The only thing that did not need to be replaced was the 3-Blade Master Airscrew 10 X 7 X 3 propeller!

EDIT: (Sorry for forgetting what kind of Glue I used!)
In the past, I have used WHITE GLUE (The stuff used at schools) such as Elmer's Glue, as it cures without leaving any residue and the bond is very strong, however, due to the long cure time you need to secure the two items together for a long time. Since the FUSE was slightly deformed up front that required some strong forming, I used the CA.

I heard the AF T-28 is hard to see when the sky is blue. I do like the looks of the AF one though. I will continue to fly my Navy T-28 until she fails to come back from her final mission. Then, I'll get another!!!!

Can't believe this thread is still going after 5 years wtf!!

I'm just getting back into RC planes after a few years of no flying, i had to scrap the T28 as it was beyond repair! I still have all the electronics and stuff so i might just buy a complete new air frame.

I have a MKII PZ Spitfire on Ebay UK if anyone is interested, i am under the alias of joe_vr46 so if anyone is interested PM on here and we can either go through Ebay or sort something else out!
