Hi Folks

The PKZ Albatros looks great as it is, or a good basic airframe to mod.

To be released this month here in the UK,been looking for a good quality small model of the Albatros for a while, will be retailing in the UK for about 130 for the PnP version.

The E-flite one looks good as well but the price is a bit high.

Hi to Chuck T Seeker,
I enjoy your reviews, nice one on the Albatros .

Kelvin UK.

UPS dropped off my PZ yesterday. Doesn't seem like there's too much interest in this one. Here are my thoughts so far.

1. PZ needs to switch over to hex head screw. You can't keep a good hold on these phillips head when cutting them in. Your crushing the foam to get a good grip and putting a ton of pressure on the screw driver.

2. The landing gear is not snug at all. Maybe that's the design but that's a good chunk of weight bouncing back and fourth in banks. There is a small amount of play in wing. I can't tighten the screws anymore.

3. The throttle channel needed reversed. This thing took off wide open from the kitchen counter into back of kitchen chair. Big dent in upper wing, broke the piece off the radiator, and chewed up the prop.

4. I got in one flight this morning.

A: This feels weak compared to all by other PZ planes. I had to keep it WO most of the time to keep it in the air. Not used to doing that and ended up draining my battery fast and heated it up really good.

B: Whenever I pull up it wants to go right. No matter how light I pull back so it's not that it's too much throw. I couldn't pull off a good loop or go inverted without it doing something unexpected. I tried adjusting the rudder a little but that didn't help.

C: Very hard nose over on landing. I thought the SE5 guys changed the landing gear around a little to fix this, gonna look into it.

We have a family reunion tomorrow. My brother and I each take a plane and put on a little show every year. I was excited to get this because my brother has the SE5 but I wasn't very impressed thus far.

I think so.

I've been flying for going on 15 years. Well before these electric planes. I fly about a dozen planes at this time. I've never had something so sluggish.

I have a 150' grass runway in my back yard. I just mowed it and rolled it with my 1,000 pound roller. This thing takes the whole thing, wide open, and barely pulls off the ground just before going into the beans.

Well then you either have a motor issue or battery issue. With all your experience you pretty well know what things should be doing. Can you do a meter test on the motor/esc/batt system and see whats coming out when you open her up.
That plane should be off the ground in a few feet from videos I've seen. Maybe time to contact the vendor and see whats what.
Oh and another thought just occurred to me...Maybe Degreen has put a hex on your plane. Sometimes he takes a fancy to a plane and needs a rebuild to do..

I am going to have a chat with my priestess. She told me it would crash as soon as it left the ground. LOL

Now for my last stunt, a forward flip on landing.

The people who are modifying their PKZ Albatros DVa planes are really doing a great job , like this one from RAGE at another RC forum site

The wife let me pick up the E-flite DVa for Christmas at my local hobby shop. I traded in the E-flite Grasshopper which I hadn't taken out of the box yet, so I got a $95 credit towards the DVa. Not too bad... So now I have both the PKZ and E-flite DVa! Now if I only had the time to build them lol...

Merry Christmas to you as well, Wattman! I hope you'll enjoy your micro N17, I sure have. I'd like to pick up the SE5 soon as well. Those micros aren't nearly as nerve-racking to fly for me like larger, more expensive planes, lol.
