Who's got Flying Weather?

I think I got down to the flying field for the last time today it wasn't flying related more like deer related activity. They called for 4" inches of snow and we have over 8" all ready still going strong. This is going to shut down our mile long dirt road unless we get a good thaw.
Now I have to wait til the ice is safe to start flying off of the many ponds around here.

I'm up early for my club's annual Jan 1st "Freeze Fly". Weather report is looking OK

Yeah, i went out for a fly this morning and it was a Freeze Fly.
Even my Battery was cold after the flight and usually it is warm or hot.
Think i will stay in here where it is warm.

No flying for me either winds at 17 mph and gusting higher. Looks like after this weeks cold weather the ponds should be set to be my airfield till the club road is passable again.

Well not too bad this morning for flying so i flew the P-51 first and it was going good til
i was making a turn away from the garage and she did not turn sharp enough.
Needles to say i had repairs to do on it. Next up was the Sportster and she was flying great until the rubber broke on the prop saver. I had to dead stick the landing and did very minor damage (motor mount) and one wheel came off.
So next i took the Snow Flyer out and had some fun doing Touch and go's
Got everything all repaired now for tomorrow.

My "Freeze Fly" experience was pretty good . There was a lot more wind than the forecast called for - I'd guess 10 mph sustained with gusts to 20 mph. I made the mistake of doing my first flight with no gloves on, and spent the next 20 minutes recovering feeling in my fingers. I'd estimate there were 25 people there... Seemed like most of the guys were just there to prove that they flew on New Years Day - they did one short flight then packed it in for the day. Mostly well-worn foamies with no landing gear... I think only one other guy had skis on their plane. I figured as long as I was there (with eight charged batteries) I might as well do some flying. The wind actually died down some after a while, but I was the only one who enjoyed it - left at about 11:00 am, the last one to leave .

Well not too bad this morning got in 2 flights.
First the Ultimate Bipe flew very well in just a small amount of wind then i took the SnowFlyer out for some T and G's and fig 8's
We have a little fresh snow so the SF was fun.
Fingers got a little cold but not too bad as i don't stay out long at a time.

Pretty Windy here too....dusting of snow gone...only got .2 inch of drizzle!! ugh but enough to pack runway again....sigh

also pair of A-10s buzzed my house this morn....sweet sound with a coffee!!

Calm this morning so took the P-51 out for a flight and then the Sportster.
No damage to report, both flights good and landings also.

Getting some errands done might try and go out for a couple of flights before I have to watch the granddaughter. Little windy, but warmed up to the low 30's and sunny.

Well this morning it is misting a bit but there wasn't much wind so i flew the UB for a short
one and landed it in the wet snow.
No damage but it did nose over on landing.
She is a nice flying plane.

Well the UB is all set to fly again but we have rain this morning and my yard in which
i land planes is getting all slushed up and when the weather turns cold again it will be
frozen into lumps and ruts. Looks like my landing area is going to be messed up for awhile.

Forecasting an awesome weekend for us here in VA, temps in the upper 60's to low 70's and light and variable winds.

I just hope I can get time to get out to the field!!! I think I will MAKE time this weekend!

We do here in SoCal, but it is COLD, about 38 degrees Fahrenheit when I got into work this morning at 6:30. I hope tomorrow isn't as cold as our field is on top of a hill.

The last 5 days have been an RC man's dream, no wind partly sunny and 57 degrees on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. I found a field for my FB Stratos that is about 8 football fields squared. The bird story is pretty cool. I have wondering what will happen if some birds fly into the picture. We are supposed to have this kind of weather for the next couple days. I wish my extra battery gets here soon LOL Happy Flying

We have to make time for the things we love and enjoy. WE are worth that. If you don't make the time, who will?
