Default Kent County Aeromodelers

Just an FYI to you wattheads in and around central Delaware. Leadership has changed at KCAM and it is much more user friendly. Especially when ti come to being "checked out" to fly at the site. In short, if you can fly half decently you should be good to go.

Check them out here - http://www.kcam-de.org/

I do not care how much you paid for it; it is still a toy.

Default Is kcam heli friendly???

Is kcam a heli friendly club??
I pulled up to the club field one Saturday last summer.
The parking area was full as was pit and flight line.
I did Not see one Heli there. So are Helis welcome at kcam?

Regards,Robert

Dedo,

They are not anti heli. Most of the members are just not familiar with helis. They do not know what to do with helis as far as pit issues and flying when fixed wing aircraft are up too. You could help change that.

When I joined the club just over a year ago I was basically the only electric there. Today, a number of the guys have added electrics to their hangers. I believe I am still the only all electric flier their, but am accepted just as any other member.

Speaking for my self, I would love to see a few competent heli guys join. I would like to get into helis again. I tried a while back (before joining KCAM), but had no one help me learn helis. Had a CX2. Tried my hand at a 450 class bird and quickly realized I was in over my head. Went with an MRS after that.

Had a blast flying today. Did a bunch of touch and goes with the roll out being almost full runway length! One of the guys yelled out "it's a plane, not a car!"

Field improvements have started. Two pit stalls added today with two more planned for tomorrow.

Just checking in to see how KCAM is doing? It's been a few years since I was flying and flew out there. Looking to get back into the local game.

We would love to see you at the field. In addition to more pit stall, there is 12 volt power too.

What do you fly?

I am the only all electric pilot at the field. When I joined a few years ago I was basically the only electric pilot there. However, since seeing the ease of use and much less maintenance involved, a good number of members have added electric birds to their hangers.

Very nice.

I am still trying to get back in the hang of things. I have a FT Bloody Wonder and a few other of their planes that I've scratch-built. If I put one in the ground while retraining my thumbs to be fluid I'm only out 4-5 bucks. I plan on adding some larger scale models in the future and maybe even go back to a gas powered but for now I'm all electric as well.

In a side note...I'm amazing at how far this hobby has come in a few years. I started flying at 10 years old in 95-96 and participated non-stop until I graduated in 2003 with a brief comeback in 07-08. I can say not much changed from 03 to 07 but 07 to now....wow.
