The season starts friday 10/26/2012 Auburn Sportsplex (formerly the location of TeamWorks) has agreed to allow us to fly indoors again this year. I am starting a new thread so I can edit this first reply with the latest information in terms of schedule and such so people don't have to go through all the threads for the current "correct" info. Location, map and directions Word of warning, last year we found that as the place heats up the snow and ice slides off the roof and can come in contact with the cars parked near the building. If there is snow of the roof, you might want to opt for the spaces away from the building first. Hours: 10am-2pm Fee: $10/pilot (spectators free  ) Payment is the honor system, pay at the office window before you leave. Let's not abuse the trust. There is A/C power available for chargers along the outer sides. might want to bring a power strip to share the plugs. There are bathrooms The main sticking point this season was they can't man/heat/light the facility if we are only going to have a small number of people show up. They remember the late season days last May where we had 4 people. We need to maintain attendance in order to keep the hours. Just to be clear, this is not affiliated with any local club, I am coordinating this because I want to be there and fly this winter. All the money is paid directly to the facility. I will update this first reply with any holiday week schedules as soon as I have something firm. I have email notifications on for this thread so I will see anything posted so feel free to ask questions in the topic so they are there for others to read also. I will update reply #1 with any changes and that will be the latest, correct info. |

Coreman if I get any Friday's off I will be sure to swing by and check out the place. From all the videos I saw posted last year it looks like a good time.

it's a very good time. Even if you can just stop out for a lunch hour to watch.
Note: We don't have the facility on Black Friday |

How big/heavy is it and what size motor/prop?
The flying area is 120'x300' so 1/2A sized planes can be flown if they turn reasonably well. Speed isn't your friend. You want something that can slow down pretty well. Most of what gets flown is the Horizon Hobbies Ultra Micro size and some 30"-ish sized flat foamies. Anything much bigger and you are constantly avoiding the walls and it stops being fun. Stop out Friday, worst case, it's free to spectate |
