Moving electronics from on fuselage to another.....help needed

I am rebuilding the Champ. O ordered a new fuselage, motor, gearbox, and tail section.

My question is what is the best way to take the electronics out of the old fuselage? The factory had a pretty thick application of adhesive holding in the electronics.

Carefully use a hobby knife? Some sort of chemical?

And what should I use to fasten it into the new fuse? CA or epoxy?

I am hoping the electronics are still good. They have seen some use. The motor was pretty much done, which is why I got a new one.

Now I am wondering if it was even worth fixing up the thing, I mean it is only a Champ.

If anything this can be a learning experience.

The adhesive is some sort of calking. I would pull it off the foam, then CAREFULLY cut or remove the stuff from the board. Don't damage any of the copper strips on the board.

I would use a latex calking material to stick the board to the new plane.
If you used epoxy it would be hard to remove and reuse the board again with out damage. There are some double side foam tape that might work, use a large enough piece to keep the board from rocking back and forth.

Thanks much for the advice! All I have right now is foam safe CA and some epoxy.

I should for sure wait and get some caulk instead?

I noticed those motors in your link and I was wondering if they are more powerful than the one that comes in the Champ

That stuff they use is more like Silicon RTV than glue. I just carefully cut around the boards then used a hobby knife to cut most of it away. Then I used foam safe CA on the corners (so it is possile to remove again if needed) with no issues. This was done on a UM T-28.

Be careful if you use a silicon RTV as some of them can damage the electronics. The acid in the RTV will do a number on the gear.

Think I will just use the CA or maybe even just a little epoxy/

Right now it is sitting on double sided tape. May CA a little on the edges.

I bought about 6 feet of velcro while I was shopping at walmart. My esc's are covered on one side, and my fuse in another. When you get your cg set and where you want it, put a drop of ca on it so it won't come off. Done deal.

Wow I did not even think about the velcro but thats a great idea. I already got her back together though. The old electronics and new motor are working fine. Now when i get a chance ill see if she flies lol.

Went to the park today to fly her for the first time after the rebuild. It was pretty windy, but went very well. She struggled in the wind, but the flight went well.The g is good as are the controls. I am very happy with my firs rebuild.

Only downer is I could not get her to bind with the DX6i.
